Somebody just messed up the partitioning of the drive.

Rightclick the Windows start button > Disk Management
Now remove the D:/ drive and expand the C:/ drive.
- The C:/ partition can only be expanded if the old D:/ partition comes AFTER it.
- If the drive has a label such as "Recovery" or "System partition" don't touch it and leave it as-is.

Right may be a stupid question but how do i remove the D drive?

it appears to be a partition with crap on it from your system builder.

You can unmount the drive by: Rightclick > Change Drive Letter and path > Remove.
If you are unable to do that ignore it.

No. For the D: drive. If you can't change it leave it as-is.

What do I do then because I keep getting windows popups saying Im low on space on the D drive every coulpe of mintues and I cant find a solution to this anywhere?
You will have to do some more advanced stuff to remove those partition then. Booting from a bootable Ubuntu live boot flashdrive and then using the Ubuntu disk manager for example.

But I would just nuke the entire system and reinstall Windows, who knows what kind of malware they put on those partitions.

The drive is fine. Windows just decided to mount one of the OEM partitions for some reason. And Windows doesn't allow you to remove OEM partitions because Microsoft is evil.

Ok I found a way to remove these partitions from within Windows. You are able to remove these partitions via the CMD with disk part.

Remove all the OEM partitions.

It is just "System Reserved" partition, leave it alone.
Go to Disk Management and remove the Drive Letter for "D"
That is all...

Next time, whenever it's an OEM/PreBuild system; you wipe out the OS Drive 100% and then clean install the OS. Then you won't have this cluster of crap that OEMs put into place.

That new "local disk" is a C: partition containing recovery tools. It's letter cannot be removed in disk management and the CMD version of removing a letter seems to only be a temporary fix until system restart. However you can mute the "Disk space low" notifications in RegEdit.

Open the Registry Editor by clicking on Start -> Run and running REGEDIT. > GO Here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer > Right-click in the blank area of the right-hand pane of the Registry Editor and create a new DWORD Value by selecting New -> DWORD Value. > Name this new DWORD Value NoLowDiskSpaceChecks > Double-click on the new DWORD value and assign it a value of 1. Then close and restart
