GTX 1070 72°C underload - is it normal?
I bought my pc in 2017 September. When I tried gaming for the first time my GPU's temperature was 67°C while underload (GPU usage 100%). Now my GPU temperature sits at 71-72°C (sometimes very reraly at 70) underload (for example while gaming Splinter Cell Blacklist, when GPU usage is constant 100%).

Should I be worried about this temperature or is it safe?

P.S. My graphics card - Zotac GTX 1070 AMP (dual fan) edition. There's 5 chassis fan in my PC (2 intake in front, 2 exhaust top, 1 exhaust back). I only use 3 fans full RPM (2intake, and 1 exhaust - back), because other two exhaust fans are too loud when spinning at max speed.

Splinter cell does not using a lot of GPU today. Try furmark to see what's up?

Sorry, but you're wrong. Now, I'm monitoring every game I play and Splinter Cell: Blacklist does use whole power of GPU. It's constant 99% usage of GPU.

72C is completely fine for graphics card, start worrying when it starts to creep over 85-90C.

Thanks! :)

I forgot to mention that at the time I bought my new PC it was colder weather outside. Now it's around 25-27°C, maybe that could be the factor of higher GPU temp also?..

Could very well count for extra 5C.

This stated otherwise. It does not using a lot GPU today.

Okay, now you're just trolling right?..

Which model 1070 do you have?

I have Asus ROG 1070 that sits between 65c - 72c.

72c is fine, as Rumpelcrutchskin said, 85+ is when you need to start to worry. Also make sure to clean PC out from dust once a blue moon to help with the air flow, unless you got lots of pets, or smoke a lot next to PC, then maybe once every couple of months.

Yeah, I know it using GPU 99%, but it does not using a lot of graphic feature as game today. EX: Deus ex mankind divided, doom, etc.

No. Might my English confused everyone. I knew GPU will using 100%, but not this game you post. It is 70 fps on 1440 monitor, so this game does not have graphic demanding.

Read my post, I have zotac gtx 1070 amp (dual fan).
Thanks for the answe. No I don't have any pets and I don't smoke at all. i also often vent my room. Well, it's good to hear that this temp isn't so bad after all :) Maybe case fans are the problem though, cause 3 of them were integrated already, so could be very cheap and bad quality.

I believe your external weather temp of 25-27c is probably pushing it up but at 72c it's not a huge concern.

In cooler weather this past year my gtx1070 armor stayed very close to 60c, I haven't checked it lately but with a power draw of only 150w I really don't expect monumental temp increases.

My old 250w R9 280x that thing hit 76c-78c most of the time. 190w Rx 580 8GB 72ish c

A whole bunch of case fans aren't always the answer, I use one 120mm side panel intake fan pointed at the gpu and mobo and one 120mm rear exhaust pulling about 70-80cfm iirc.

Ps, I always cut the honeycomb case fan grills out they tend to choke air flow.

GPUs are built to handle much higher temps as most PC parts. 70 celsius is completly normal, especially for a 1070. They are expected to last over a decade under such conditions, even if you would game daily for long hours.
You will earlier switch out for a better stronger GPU as it would go wrong.

Sorry about that, miss reading that part. Also you could get better fans, but I don't think that will make any different, or not by much at all, the only way to lower the GPU temps really is doing a custom water cooling loop for your system. But I wouldn't worry at all, you got enough fans to help dissipate the heat within the system.

Ambient room temp and Case airflow and cooling capabilities play a part in a systems temp
But as stated, 72C is nothing to be worried about.
