2080 ti or wait for next gen?
I'm using a RTX 2080, would it be worth it to upgrade to a Ti or wait for the 3080 ti?

You already have a 2080 so you won't even need to upgrade for at least a few years. Either way, you don't need to upgrade unless you're running at 4K resolution.

The 3080 could possibly come out with around 2080 Ti performance but for the price of a 2080-Super, and the 3080 Ti will cannibalise sales of the 2080 Ti and cause those prices to drop.

Believe me, as a 2080 user, I've been tempted to buy a 2080 Ti in the past, but it's just not worth it.

As Escorve said, you have a 2080, it'll last a while.

Though, if you're unhappy with the performance, you can buy it, but I would be inclined to wait and get a stronger GPU.

We'll I"m using a 1440p monitor and games like Metro Exodus and BFV I only get like 50fps and that's with everything maxed out and RTX on
The RTX will be around for a while since it is next gen as of now and was just released within last year.

Edit: However you might want to turn the RTX to software only as not all games support the RTX ray tracing technology and can lead to lower fps on non ray tracing games.

Just don't use DXR. It's not worth the FPS drop.
depends on how keen you are on gaming now

Then don't get your hopes up when the next gen launch for RTX cards.

2xxx series is the pioneers of the new tech, don't expect to really get better until after two, or so generations, meaning 4xxx, or 5xxx RTX basically.

Ray tracing is a niche thing truely, and most times you're not going to really pay attention to those effects as you be more focused on the game itself than trying to stare at reflections, or improvements on the reflections, or slightly better shadow casting improvements in modem games.

Unless you care about looks, turn off rtx, its not even real ray tracing, just a waste of performance.
Yea just disable RT in games and you'll easy get around 2x or so fps.
Just so you can play two video games? No way.
Most of your library can be played with hardware over a decade old. No need to upgrade. Unless you just love spending money on those things.
It´s a complete waste of resources.

ιf you have 2080 you dont need any upgrade at this time . But those with GTX 10 or GTX 9 series like me it is better to wait for next gen.
Already having an RTX 2080 is plenty of gpu power. Moving to one gpu up is never worth it. Not when the new lineup is so close to release. You'd lose alot of money trying to resell an original non Super 2080 now.

This is why i wait for next gens. Because none of current cards can run ray tracing well. It would had been a waste of money to get any RTX 2000 .

It's a waste of money in general to buy a GPU that's above what you actually need in general, not just RTX. People do it for the longevity though, as a 2080 will definitely last longer than a 2060.
