That is true but I seem to remember Jensen talking about how easy it would be to implement ray tracing without a bunch of extra work. Even still the whole generation of GPU has come and gone and there is still barely any adoption in games. I'm sure that will change if consoles implement it though.
My guess is 8-12 gb.. I know that sounds low, but I seriously think that is what we get. I hope it is more, but well. I think the price in Europe will be 1000 + markup from brands. But US prices will realistically be 750-800 + markup brand. (everything is cheaper in the US)
20gb.. maybe on the 3090 that needs 3 slots and cost and arm and a leg. (1400 + markuo)
20GB would so so far overkill for gamers it's not even funny. 20GB would only make sense for doing stuff like 3D renders with a lot of PBR high resolution textures (since each material needs 4 or 5 textures all at 4k so it adds up quick) or some other pro workload
I think the 3080ti will only have 11 or 12 again
