How feasible to upgrade an i7 920 PC with 12GB RAM to WIN 10?
Or would it be better to just get a new PC?
This PC runs all the games I play, but its 9 years old and I encountered my first WIN 10 only game today and cannot play it because I still use WIN 7.

Just clean install Win10 64bit. Skip where it asks for a product key. Once inside the OS go to Activation setting and enter your Win7 key.

Your system is generally fine for Win10. But what GPU do you have? Also it will help to install Win10 to an SSD.

It will do a perfectly fine job at running Windows 10. The system might be old but it's perfectly capable at running Windows 10.

Win10 ran fine on my 1st gen i5-750. Although driver wise had to install win7/8 drivers and manually installed via device manager.

the first gen i7 cpus were fun overclockers
if its not in an oem board and has a good cooler, try to hit 4+ghz with it

disable its ht, those did not do very much and make it run alot hotter

you can install win10 on it

If you have the money build a new pc because even at the legendary 4GHz+ oc speed, that i7 could still be 50% slower than 10th Gen i3 at stock speed!

Once you arrive at build 19041.423, the ability to update drivers via Device Manager is deprecated. You either have to go to your manufacturer's site or take your chances with Windows Update in Settings, under Optional Updates.

I would start fresh with a new system and keep the current one for other uses, it's still good enough to do a lot of tasks efficiently, but it will struggle with CPU intensive titles

I would try to use the existing win7 key to activate win10, they never changed the activation servers despite all the time limits they announced - chances are it will still work.

i know the new i3 or old i5 is faster, but they are fun to play with if you have one

even if you buy a new build for gaming, you will still have that cpu/mobo/ram combo

My sons old PC runs a 920, it handles Win10 just fine

But i would download the latest available Ethernet/Soundcard drivers available for that board to a USB stick in case the default drivers dont work.

And as previously mentioned, try using your Win7 key to register Win10, you can use the program SPECCY do to do so. You can try either when installing Win10 when it asks, or wait till you get to the desktop and manually enter the key.

Buy a new SSD 500gb for liek £50 and install a fresh copy of windows 10 onto that. Your pc should perform better with windows 10 over windows 7. You can get a license key for windows 10 on cdkeys . com

Should I just add it or replace the 128GB one?

what you could do is add it and use it as your main boot drive and have the 128gb with all your current documents and files on it to save you from having to transfer everything over.

OR

is having a fresh install on the 500gb, reinstall all your applications and main games (csgo for example) onto the 500gb ssd and then have the 128gb ssd as a backup for extra games or files you want to have quick access to.
