Steamlink Samsung TV-App vs. Raspberry Pi vs. Amazon Firestick
Hi Everyone,

So I have a "little" problem with Steamlink (App Version).

I tried to use it for my Samsung TV, but it seems to be kinda buggy.

Not all configuration options are visible or included in this app, for example when I want to use my keyboard and mouse, the mouse is freaking out with absolut high sensetivity.

It is nearly the same bug just like here:

https://steamcommunity.com/app/353380/discussions/0/1638662230368725283/?ctp=2

It is for every first person shooter or game where you control directly your character with the mouse to look around. For strategy game where you "see" your mouse cursor, there is no problem.

......

So i tried to use my raspberry pi 3, installed raspbian and steamlink, upgraded/updated everything and tried it out and....yeah worked pretty well....but only one thing is super super strange....

When I try to hit the ALT key on my keyboard and click the left or the right mouse button too....i cannot move my mouse aynmore as long i press down the ALT key.

I really dont know why, I guess it is something in raspbian maybe which block something but I have no clue how to fix it for steamlink.

Maybe someone have an idea who have more knowledge in rasbian stuff?

....

I also tried it with the amazon firestick. I sideloaded steamlink, but...yeah... .

First, when you use a 4k firestick with the rj45 adapter....forget it..its not working.

I bought an otg micro usb cable (which should work accodring to forum) but it was not able no have keyboard/mouse working and have a wired connection too...+ an usb hub is also not working with this option...I guess it is still not enough power.

So I searched for a solution for this and found an adapter for this, which I will try out when I ordered it.

But of course I have some questions about Steamlink.

1. Have someone an idea for the raspberry pi problem? I want to press the ALT key and use my mouse of course to....for example you need to hold down the ALT key in Heroes of the Storm to ping your actions.....which is not possible.

2. Will the Steamlink App updated with a bug fix for the mouse problem? Kinda a question for the Steam support team.

3. Have someone tried it out with the firestick too? Cause I have not the right hardware atm my hope is the first two problems are not in the android app....so mouse control, keyboard functions should hoply all work.

I am sorry for any misspelling, or grammer stuff.

Greetings from Germany

Ok guys, just for documentation and if someone else have the same problem.

I downloaded now virtual here from the shop.

In the android app is NO OPTION for this to enable virtual here for your client. So the host pc is unable to find input devices, which means, if you have a bug with your inputs and play via a Samsung TV or an android system...you are dommed....you cannot use "right controls" via ethernet because virtual here is not an chosable option in the client.

BUT!!!

For raspberry pi Users:

There is hope, I dont know why raspberry pi steam link have this option, but when I enabled it, it worked like a charm.

No more issues with strange mouse sensetivity or blocked keys.

There is only one thing to mention: I can use Virtual here with my keyboard (Bluetoth) and steamlink accpet it...but it seems to be disconect after a while. So my solution for now is to deactivate virtual here only for the keyboard but use it for the mouse (razer naga wired) and it worked too.

Full control now, but honestly....it is a shame.....

1. WHy is it not possible to have it in the Android app? I mean...really Steam? It is fu**** android.... But for a cringy Linux based raspberry it is a feature? So.....WHAT THE....??!!

2. Many people mentioned before to....why we need to have a software which do this stuff and pay 12 Euro?,,,,Come on....get your things read and implement this virtual USB stuff in your own app..... .

3. Fix the problem with controls....why is it still not working with mouse? I would not need additional software if it would inhouse...

Anyway....with a lot of struggling, testing and swearwords....it is working now.

I hope this will people help, if you have the same problem.

Buy a pi, install steamlink, buy virtual here and play.

Thanks and bye
