Will a larger paging file help me make up for my GPU's VRAM?
I have a GTX 1060 Max-Q with 3GB VRAM. I read an article talking about how changing the size of the paging file creates an increase in the GPU's perceived video memory in Windows. Would this actually make a difference in games that use lots of VRAM, or does it just trick the system to let you run games with higher VRAM requirements? Thanks in advance

Specs:
HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop
Intel Core i7-8750H
GTX 1060 Max-Q
16GB RAM
512 GB M.2 SSD + 1TB HDD

No, if you don't have the needed vram only thing that helps is a better gpu. Or lower the settings in game to use less vram.

What does help your OS overall is...

Always using an SSD for the OS + core Apps. Games can always go elsewhere.

Then set the page file on C to None, click Set, click OK two times there and reboot to apply. Then go back to page file settings and lock in the same MIN and MAX so your page file never gets fragmented. Use the value in Megabytes for either 8gb or 16gb.

8gb = 8192
16gb = 16384

Since you have a laptop, ignore the highest available in game preset, such as Ultra. Use High or Very high. You have 6gb of dedicated vram there so you should be fine.

Thanks. My GPU only has 3GB VRAM, and I usually go with Medium/High settings in high-fidelity games

3gb is fine for most 1080p games
