Flashed bad router firmware
I tried updating firmware on one of my routers (ZTE ZXV10 W300)
Router firmware was w300V1.0.1a_ZRD SB and I tried flashing W300V2.0.0e_DR0_PL
It said "upload successful" and "wait for the router to reboot"
Then all LEDs on the router turned off.
I waited a few minutes and it still hasn't booted up.
I tried turning it off and on via power button but only few LEDs flash for a second and then they turn off again.

Is there a way to fix this?

basic rules for flashing, wait for it to reboot on its own, if it does not, wait 30+ minutes longer
after about an hour, pull power, wait about 5 minutes, and plug it in again

try a 30-30-30
grab a clock or timer with a second hand
hold reset button, wait 30 seconds
while holding reset, pull power, wait 30 more seconds
while still holding reset, re-plug in power, wait 30 seconds
release reset, wait 5 minutes, and watch for any activity on its lights

if all else fails
jtag, or pull the flash chip and re-flash the eeprom itself

he really should use a zif socket adapter

or solder adapter

but before trying to re-flash it yourself, contact zte to rma or exchange it

Will this programmer work?

That's the only one I could find that I can buy.

I also can't find the original firmware that was on the router, anywhere on the internet (W300V1.0.1a_ZRD SB)
I found a dump file for the router, but the guy who uploaded it password protected the RAR file

I contacted ZTE and they responded with this:

I bought used router from a random guy, so ZTE support probably won't help me.
if the router combo is from the isp, contact them for a replacement
just say it quit working

It's not from ISP. I said that I bought it from another person.
It worked fine until I tried to install the new firmware.
if its all yours, you can try re-flashing it

or pick up a new router

I might try re-flashing it if I find the dump file (or if I successfully brute force that zip with dump file)

I never done that before. So can you tell me is the programmer I linked in post #2 the correct one for this?

Edit: Found a password for zip file in comments. Now I'm gonna definitely try to flash it,

no
thats a pic programmer

you will need to look at the eeprom model number and make sure the programmer is capable of reading and flashing it
not all have the same pinout, the programmer needs to adapt to it

I couldn't find any other in my country.
But I found these 2 on Gearbest
https://www.gearbest.com/sensors/pp_009697227549.html
https://www.gearbest.com/other-accessories/pp_009439870912.html

They look like the one from that video. Are those the correct ones?

eeprom model number is written on the chip, right? I'll be able to see it when I open the router?
both are the same, the 2nd link includes a clip adapter to flash an ic without removing it
but should not be used as its powering the other board

you may also need a voltage adapter, look up the chip number to see what it needs

also pick up the adapter, make life so much easier if you need to re-flash it

Ok then. I'll buy the adapter you linked.
And should I buy programmer with or without clip adapter?

I haven't understood this part:

Does that mean I can flash it without having to unsolder the chip from router?
Why it shouldn't be used? Which other board?
id just get the first one, the clips are difficult to use, and for specific cases where you can power the eeprom from its board while flashing it
I purchased them.
They should arrive in about 30 days.

Can you please stay subscribed to this discussion so you can help me if I have more questions about this?
best of luck with it

be sure to backup its existing bin before trying to write to it
It finally arrived

I'll try to figure out how to use it tomorrow.

I still haven't received that Adapter Socket thing.
Should I wait for it, or I can do it with these parts from the picture?
id wait until you can pull its eeprom and put it in the socket

or re-solder it to the small pcb and use that to flash it again

be sure to look up forums on the router, and make sure you get the full bin file to flash on its eeprom
and that the programmer is set to the correct eeprom pinout
