32 inch monitor vs 34 inch ultrawide

Well, I just wasted some money.

I used to use a 32 inch 1080P TV for gaming for a long time. But the colors got weak and the backlight got dim. So I finally upgraded in 2016. I bought a 3440x1440 34" ultrawide. It was only 60Hz but it was fine for me. Except ... for the height. It is wider than the 32 but not as tall. I lost 5 inches* of height. When doing anything but gaming, the loss of height was annoying.

So, I just upgraded again. A 32 inch 2560x1440 144 Hz monitor with FreeSync. The first thing I notice is that I have not gained back that height. *The 5 inches was my imagination. There is only a 2 inch difference. That was not worth upgrading for. The TV had wide boarders and a very wide bottom boarder. So i thought I lost more size than I did. Sigh

Oh well, I have gained Hz and freesync and some game modes. I will be testing for a while to see if those make any difference to me. I also can switch to portrait mode which I like for some things.

Let us know how you go, going from Ultrawide 1440p to 16/9 1440p is a step backward, let is know if the difference is noticeable and whether you would go back to the Ultrawide or if the higher refresh rate is more important.
