i7 8700k paired with a 2080 ti
will a pc build with an i7 8700k paired with 2080 ti work well together, or will it bottleneck really badly up to the point where the pc performs badly

compare to what. ?

many fail to understand what you come from, but as the other say should work fine.

if you said a I7 old pc to I58700k you might actual not get the boost you was hopeing for.

and i doubt you had a I9 from the past then its a new model.

this is what most dont get, take a fomula one car , and the Driver says all street car suck.

i hope you understand the explanation, that pc is fine but depend on previous pc to new matter.

but let me say it nicely , fine game pc , try see 3D Bencemark test Result List in both Cpu and Gpu. ( its all about Calculation ) and ofc what you can afford and want to spend on it.

well gl with it.
its all about index, where you old pc is and the new one.
and watchout for the even and try match in I## number, then go down from higher I number its can feel like a downgrade. see index in output performance.
What? He asked if that CPU will be a bottle neck for that GPU, there is no comparison. If he had of said a pentium with a 2080 then yes there is a bottle neck but since OP said 8700k then the answer is 100% its going to work fine...

Drivers are just to tell the OS how to operate the hardware, if OP had incorrect drivers from a older PC then he will need to update them to the correct ones.

It will run fine.

you have no clue on what she has in the past, thats the issue here.
if none and if she had a work pc with I9 , then that piece of crap is not good enough.

then she will have a new slow pc. and she will not be a happy camper.

OP didn't ask for a comparison. Once again you're trying to answer a question that wasn't asked.

That combination should work quite well for nearly every game on the market. My only recommendations would be to also make sure you have 16GB of ram and an SSD.

no.

ohh did she ask about ram no she did not... ( but yeah i do get you, 16gb is recommended )

How is a pc with a 8700k and a 2080 ti going to be slow? Also an i9 vs a 8700k is not that bad.

Who cares what they had before, we know this person wants a 8700k and a 2080 ti. They asked a question which was answered, now you are asking what they had before which is totally irrelevant and makes absolutely no difference.

You might look up charts and learn this yourself. ( most people dont argue with charts but you do. )

and we dont know, if that is already want she can afford and best offer.

but if you have better pc at work then that will feel like a outdate pc. ( see charts )

and there is no way in hell she will be happy with it, more a waste of money if she get a slow pc then work pc.

so you could ask yourself, why do she even ask then its already been said a Fine pc.

but if i had amd64core at work, then that crap pc is garbage. ( slow as hell and feel like a bottleneck )

There is absolutely an increase in power with an I9 9900k over an 8700K, im not denying that.

An 8700k is not slow at all, its a high end CPU. It combined with a 2080 TI is perfectly fine for gaming or any other task.

It does not matter what this person had previously as chances are the 8700k is gonna be more powerful than what ever they already had.

Its unlikely someone is going to think a lower number is better than a higher number. Before you tell me that sometimes lower numbers can be better, it does not really apply here.

I doubt many companies are going to pay for an i9 for their employees. i9s are damn expensive and currently not worth it regarding AMDs counter CPU being cheaper with more power and less heat.

I understand you are trying to help by saying if you have something better, this is not worth it but generally when someone asks this question with such high specs in mind, they will not often have anything better.

It will perform fine, albeit I would do 9700k if it was me (I did that for my build centered around a 2080) But you should remember that the quality of your MB, Ram and PSU are just as vital, everything can bottleneck.

Also final advice, if you are not doing atleast 1440p then a 2080ti is overkill and remember that the 2xxx series have major issues, many have faults with them, the super models are abit less prone to faults however.

OP I give you two points, one is short answer, and with little more details. Also why the i7 8700k? if you don't mind me asking. Also the next gen GPU's are coming out in 2, or so months, which is suppose to be a leap, so may save yourself some money if you waited, and see if rumors are true.

Short answer: No you won't be bottleneck with the i7 8700k and 2080 Ti.

Long answer: Depending what you're trying to do, depends on the hardware you pick, not all games made the same, and can be more CPU demanding, than GPU, while others are more GPU demanding than CPU. Another thing to note is the monitor native screen resolution you be using with the setup, as the bigger the screen resolution the more GPU demanding it becomes. The the combo may not be bottleneck, but again comes down to what you're doing. If goal is to run apps that heavy on CPU, then get something that has more cores like the AMD ryzen series R7, or even R9 having more cores, and able to handle the heavily AI computing tasks. The GPU is more aim towards 1440P, and 4k monitors, but this depends what you have, it's not really recommended to have really low usage on GPU as could encounter random micro shutters which is just the GPU trying to ramp up, and down depending when it need to work harder, but being a lower usage is not idea, but this depends on the game mainly how it's made, as very few games encounter these problems. Otherwise it's fine, could use DSR to upscale your screen resolution for ingames, this will give the GPU more work to do, and give you bonus anti-aliasing if using 1080p monitor, or 1440p monitor just things to consider. Back to CPU, I would suggest look towards i7 10700k if you can get one, with the new Z motherboard that for the CPU series.

Err a 64 core cpu is pretty crap for gaming compared to an 8700k.... Just saying.
rezo 16 Thg07, 2020 @ 5:32am
8700k will work very well with a 2080 ti yes. You can obviously get a little higher framerate from a new cpu like a 9900k which is supported by the same motherboard but it certainly doesnt justify the cost a new cpu for such a small gain in any regard.
