My controller's usb cable does have some sort of extension, it's a bit longer then the usual mouse usb, it's kind of like sticking usb instead.
i'm not sure about it being "join"(round) tho, nor how it can be pressed back together
It's called an "inline release", scroll about half way to see what i meant..
https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-360/accessories/connecting-game-controllers
I can see that "round" thing on my controller but i don't think there is even a way to disconnect that thing, it's just solid, no connector or anything
And yes i am also beginning to hate windows 10
As these controllers were mainly designed to be used with consoles, the inline release is there to help to prevent the console being dropped, if the controller cable was pulled or tripped over.
As for Windows 10, this is unlikely, more down to a faulty controller.
Drivers for 360 and One controllers are already part of the O.S, they can't be installed on Windows 10.
I can only assume that the PCB has failed on the controller. A good chance if it's a nock off Xbox 360 controller from a third party - which I'm only assuming due to the fake inline release.
Does it work on other PC's\laptop's?
Sometimes controllers just die. Time to get a new one I think.
maybe i should try buying the new one tho, have not tried that yet
