i3-8100, or R3 1200 if you can't afford the i3 but still want to use a GPU.
Can I use my GTX 950 with R3 2200G? Will that work? I heard R3 2200G has a APU. Can that be disable and I can use my GTX 950 instead of APU?

U can use any GPU with any CPU. All the mainstream Intel CPUs got iGPU aswell, and no problem there. It just sits there until u need it while u use any GPU u want.
I heard, if I’m never using the iGPU then the 1200 would probably be a better option due it it having more cache than the 2200G? Is this true?

2200G would perform better and is a better choice overall. Higher amount of cache will only help u if u run single channel memory for some reason.

I’m trying to pick which CPU is better for games that I listed. Then I can choose a compatible MOBO and then RAM.

Since its only for gaming , go with intel.

Best performance would be Ryzen 2600+16GB RAM 3000 mhz.
I agree with this.

I would go with a Ryzen 5 2600 build over an i3 8100 build if it's possible to stretch the budget. If not I would go with the i3 8100 over the 2200g.

6core/12thread processor vs 4core/4thread processor so you get a lot more threads with the 2600 which does actually make a difference in quite a few titles.

I think this comparison is a bit accurate since it's at 720p with a GTX 1080, not much of a GPU bottleneck to hold back CPU peformance. The 8100 wins slightly in some scenarios, but the 2600 performs better on average, especially on titles that can be pretty hard on CPU threads. You'll notice the 8100 is nearing 100% CPU utilization in quite a few titles that is the % of CPU threads being used.

edit: no matter which processor you choose I don't think you will notice the difference right now anyway because of the GTX950 being the bottlneck in the build.

Have to admit, the extra cores are a very nice option to have if you want to record your recent AAA game, was one of the reasons I upped my 2500k / r9 380 to the 2600x / 1070ti. Well that and cyberpunk 2077 lol

+1
There's no point in going for quadcores anymore.

If you're on a hard budget, you could as well get 2x4 GB Ram for now, and throw in more later down the road - your mentioned titles & settings aren't that Ram hungry.
But at least with the build from Josh you will have a strong foundation for the future, and 0 CPU bottlenecks.
I'm using Ryzen 5 2400G, in a prebuilt mobo/cpu/8gb memory job,it has built in graphics chip.Runs Counterstrike fine 100-120 FPS,BF4 runs on medium settings at 40-80 FPS.Good enough really, and cheap. And space on the mobo for a GPU later, but not worth it if you are getting a GPU as well.I game occassionally so big numbers not that important to me.Does everything else I need besides gaming such as video production. It's competent.

Why do you think, it won't be worth getting, if I get a GPU with it?

Because there's R5 2600 for the same price, with more performance yet without iGPU u don't need anyway.

R3 2200G is cheaper $99.47 and R5 2600 is $164.99.

Been talking 2400G he's got. 2200G is indeed the best $100 choice for now.
