Of course not a problem; it stops charging when it's done.
Just like any other time you have it plugged in.

You don't need to worry about the battery with modern laptops.

You could always run it on the charger and the battery would be fine.

Glad to hear it, thank you so much

While you should not leave it on a charger 24/7 all the time because li-ion battery life is shortened if always fully charged (or long time fully discharged), but overnight is no problem. Many people with phones with li-ion batteries probably charge them overnight and the batteries last for years.

As an example I bought a laptop in 2009 for an old lady who always keeps it plugged in, and just this year it li-ion battery will no longer hold a charge. But I have an older laptop that still charges fine (not that I use it much).

The battery will take damage, because its created to get loaded full and then go empty again.
If you let it plugged in when the Laptop is running it will reload continuesly at 99% what damage the battery and decrease the lifetime.

No it doesn't because the battery usage shuts off until AC power is cut or unplugged.

You are thinking of a Phone/Tablet; on those devices, it will always use the battery as primary power no matter what. On those, AC power only charges the battery, not powers the device.

But yes it is always good to make use of your battery and cycle through it on a regular basis.

Overall, the battery life % will naturally degrade over time, regardless of usage.

I would take out the battery and plug in the AC cable to make sure it dont gets damaged.
Laptop batteries arent cheap.

LOL yes they are; they're like $20-30

Course that depends what model too; like say Dell Inspiron vs HP Envy vs Alienware
Yea of course the Alienware ones aren't cheap. But those are usually higher quality and very good capacity overall compared to most others.

And most Laptops now, you can't remove the battery easily without basically disassembling the entire bottom most portion of the laptop.

What you mean, "for me" ?

Everyone can get spare ac power brick or battery off Ebay.

You said 30$ is cheap = cheap for you
I say 30$ is much money I can eat a whole week of this ammount.

Even my six year old laptop is smart enough to stop charging the battery when it's full.

This is correct. Pretty much any competent manufacturer has this implemented to predict your hardware....ignore some of the other posts below because they are extremely dated.

But your original advice of taking the battery out is way over the top.

^ This, like I said, a majority of Laptops no longer have easy to remove batteries.
It's a pointless venture to do this. No matter how you make use of it, either actually using the battery, or it sitting and not being used, it's life-span naturally degrades regardless. Not much you can do about this. Most Laptop makers will only warranty the battery for the first year, regardless of you having purchased extended warranty or not. Cause they know there is really nothing you can do to stop or prolong the battery life-span.
