Setting priority in Task Manager
This is gonna sound dumb, which is the best option for most power out of a game?

"Realtime" or "High"?

Thanks

It really makes little to no difference changing these things. The question would be, what you wanted to do? In games, it can cause input lag, so don't say games :P

Funny you'd say the input lags, changed the CS:GO priority to real time and the mouse was cutting out every couple seconds xd

Mainly for GTA V, I was getting 50FPS with the priority on normal, I set it to High and now im getting a solid 60FPS, ill just leave all the other games as they were.

GTA V, for one, really isn't as responsive as CS:GO, but you will notice it at some point. Have you tried closing as many Windows and background services, this could also give you the required FPS boost. On my old machine, I used to have to do that in almost every game, just to make it playable. I would then increase the priority to high, depending on the game.
You shouldn't, there are other processes that are more important that run in the background. If it's effecting your fps then you are running too much stuff

It's not that its affecting my FPS as such, I mainly wanted to do this for GTA and Rainbow Six Siege as theyre more FPS hungry than Counter-Strike. I can easily get 250-300FPS in CS:GO but only get 50FPS in Grand Theft Auto and Rainbow Six, which is to be expected due to graphics etc. I thought that my priorities for GTA and Siege where already on High but they werent so I've just left GTA and Siege on "Above normal" just to squeeze some more FPS out and left everything else on normal.

*I play Siege/GTA on mostly max*
I wouldn't recommend changing any of the process priorities. If you're on the Windows 10 Creators Update, it has a new feature called Game Mode which does the prioritizing for your within Windows.

Yes, when you tell the PC that CS:GO is more important than handling the mouse, the mouse starts cutting out. That's the reason you shouldn't mess with it, there are a lot of things involved in keeping a PC running smoothly that will falter when you raise the priority of a process.

The only thing that should ever be "realtime" is Task Manager.

Anytime you put something above Normal, there is chance for problems, cause Windows Explorer is on Normal. So the OS dislikes anything above that, except OS related things, like Task Manager.

You're wasting your time changing it; if the game runs poorly, that's your PC Specs or drivers/software, address that...
