Third screen not picking up - AOC Gsync and GTX970
Hi can someone help me? I'm a bit of a novice and an older lady so plain english if possible please. :-)
I have 3 monitors connected to my Graphics card (Geforce GTX 970) and the other day had to pull a Displayport cable in order to use it elsewhere. When plugging it back in, I now get a permanent "no signal" on one monitor. (AOC Nvidia G-sync G2460PG) The other two monitors connected via HDMI and DVI are fine.
I have tried unplugging power leads and rechecking cable seating but all fine. Windows 10 recognises that their is a monitor but doesn't pull any info through or let me activate it.
Not confident enough to change anything in the BIOS, But worked fine until pulling the cable.
Also tried plugging the monitor into the mobo connection but still no signal....
.... Any ideas?

Try the monitor on another computer.

Tried the monitor on another pc (windows 10, GPU Asus Strix Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050) and still no joy. When plugging in it came up with Nvdia Gsync detected, and opened the Nvida control panel, but won't let you select the screen or display anything

what would "older lady" need 3 displays at all? Sorry, didn't mean to offend you if I have, just I'm suprised.

No offense taken :-) I had two and was bought another for my birthday. The pc was built and set up for me - I just like the games... :-)

I've done some research...your GPU should be able to handle a third monitor. Can you give us the model number on the back of your monitor?

It say product: G2460PG Model 240LM00014
Hope this helps?

It helps...It will be a bit to answer back (lots of things to take care of). Also, are you running Windows 10?

Yes

Both Pcs recognised a connection but neither of them would allow me to select it. Almost as if its constantly on standby, but I've done all the usual recommended stuff. All help is appreciated x

Hopefully your monitor will start working. When you get back to your pc note that the gtx970 supports 4 monitors but there are restrictions on resolution and cables. There might be a restriction on using g-sync as well.

You tried this with all three monitors I presume. It seems to be an issue with Windows 10.

Just in case try this...if it doesn't work...it is probably a Windows 10 issue from what I have been reading.

Right click "Start" (the Window icon in the lower left) and select "Control Panel" (Open classic Control Panel).

In the right corner -> View by: "Small Icons".

Display.

Change Display Settings.

Now you will see the traditional display configuration screen.

Select ("black/gray") extended monitor.

Make sure "Multiple displays" is not set to "Disabled.

Select apply once done for all displays.

Let us know how it goes.

I'm pretty confident that it isn't the graphics card as when I swap cables / ports / computers etc all the monitors work except the AOC one. Tried my daughters monitor as a third and that worked as expected. The setup has been working for the last 6 1/2 mths with no problem until I took out the DP cable. This monitor only has one dp connection so I can't try DVI or anything else on it either.

I have a GTX970 myself..The issue is definitely OS realated then. Recent updates to Windows 10 could have borked your previously working three monitor setup. I would advise you use Windows 10's feedback feature to notify them of the situation.

I selected the monitor but windows is not pulling any info about the monitor into the normal boxes (Scale & Layout / resolution / orientation etc), these boxes are all blank and greyed out. The setting is currently set to "Disconnect this display" so I changed it to "Extend desktop to this display" and I am getting an error message of "The display setting could not be saved. Please try a different combination of display settings".

I will log a call with Windows, I logged one with AOC too so hopefully it will get resolved. Will relook at it tomorrow, think I need to get some sleep! Thank you for your help

Hang in there :-) If all else fails and MS gives you lip service, you can also try your local Staples Easy Yech or Bestbuy Geek Squad. I just pray that you don't get a robo-response from Microsoft.

Not sure how that ever worked because in order to use a 3rd screen you need to stop using one of the HDMI or DVI in order for it to work.
