Low cost high quality Gigabit Ethernet adapter

So i noticed when building and updating my sons new PC that the internet speed is a SMIDGE better than with my setup, probably due to the age of the NIC

So im looking to buy a PCI or PCI-E Ethernet adapter that is better and newer than the NIC on my ASUS P8Z68 V Pro Gen3 board

So any recommendations would be appreciated.

But i'm not sure which would be the best to go with

Tried a bunch of them this one has the best antenna but only does N and it works in windows 10. Cisco Linksys Wireless-N WMP300N-CA . I can also recomend a EX6200 extender if you want to plug in. We travel around in a fifth wheel alot so we are at the mercy of RV park wifi wich is never good.

Intel is the best bet, the cheaper ones are realtek and not much better than the on-board... Try this one, cost is only double the realteks and you get 2x intel ports

Anything that use Intel would be best IMO, TP cheaps out, giving users a bad time for low cost cards.

Your motherboard already has an Intel 82579 Gb controller on it. I would first look at the drivers https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/47549/Intel-82579-Gigabit-Ethernet-Controller and possible BIOS updates for the motherboard before installing another LAN card. You should also make sure the cable and connections are good and maybe look at stats on that connection.

as for the driver i am using the latest
and using the latest BIOS

im not having problems or anything its just that when updating my sons PC the speed is a tiny bit higher

I just want to get the max im capable of getting
and im pretty sure a dedicated card would help with CPU overhead or whatever as well.

The Onboard NIC is like 7 years old or so now, so im just trying to get something thats more up to date with better reliability etc so on.

I just want a current standard up to date NIC
cuz the one on my sons ASUS B250M-A i think it is, is what offered the slightly higher speed

and to just have something that may be better than a 7 year old onboard NIC

its nothing more than that.

and 150/150 is just what i have, if i wanted more id pay an additional $10 or 20 for 900/800 but i dont need that much lol

Generally, your internet connection is a lot slower than your ethernet connection. So, not having peak ethernet performance will not have any effect on your internet connection.
Considering Gigabit ethernet is around since 1999 there's not much that changed in the last few years. It's well established technology almost two decades old.

Repeat the speedtest on your PC, while your PC is connected to the same cable and port your son's PC was. It's more likely the problem (and solution) is in the cable than in the NIC.

CJ...I need to know a few things.

1. Who is your ISP what is the speed you have with them (use Ookla's Speed Test)...what devices are you using (model and make).

2. Are you using wired or wireless networks? Is there distance and if so through what materials?

3. Do you have QOs Packet Scheduling enabled?
