Low cost high quality Gigabit Ethernet adapter
So i noticed when building and updating my sons new PC that the internet speed is a SMIDGE better than with my setup, probably due to the age of the NIC

So im looking to buy a PCI or PCI-E Ethernet adapter that is better and newer than the NIC on my ASUS P8Z68 V Pro Gen3 board

So any recommendations would be appreciated.

Ive been looking at
Intel Gigabit CT PCI-E Network Adapter EXPI9301CTBLK

or

TP-Link 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit PCI Network Adapter/Card, Includes Low-profile Bracket (TG-3269)

or Possibly
Rosewill 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit PCI Express, PCIE Network Adapter / Network Card / Ethernet Card , Win10 supported (RC-411v3)

which are on amazon
But i'm not sure which would be the best to go with

Then look for ones that has Windows 10 drivers, as if possible Intel chip.

I honestly dont see whats so difficult though
All i want is an NIC that is more current and up to date compared to the onboard one for my Motherboard between the 3 that i listed.

My sons onboard is Realtek® RTL8111H, 1 x Gigabit LAN Controller(s)
so im just trying to get something that is comparable to that and isnt all that expensive.

No. What you want is to get the same speed on your PC as your son got. And then you jumped to the conclusion that a new NIC is the answer.

Buy the Intel, that's always quality since they're primarily focused on the business/datacenter market. And then we'll see you back here for your followup question what else could be the problem.

Look at my OP
It plainly states im looking for something better and newer than what my onboard provides, which i would assume will do what i want it to do.

ive explained this multiple times.

If someone would have just answered my OP by choosing 1 of the 3 NIC's i listed this conversation would not still be discussed.

With that said
since people are NOW saying Intel, i'll give the Intel a try.

Thanks.

Neither of the three is significantly nor noticeably better for home use, which is why people didn't answer. The answer we gave in the end, is only really relevant to server/workstation use. Which you're now going to find out by spending $30.

If you're getting 130Mpbs, while your son is getting 150Mpbs, a 1000Mbps NIC isn't stressed anywhere near to the point it would explain the 20Mpbs difference. That would more likely be a rotten cable.

If you're getting 100Mbps, while your son is getting 140Mbps, there's almost certainly a 100Mbps port on your home network between you and the internet.

And so on, there are a host of possibilities, none of which involving the NIC, because everyone in the field knows that NICs just work. Unless there's been a lightning strike.

Which is why I wanted you to test your PC connected to the cable your son's PC was on. You would have seen the speed your son got, on your PC.

its not that big of a difference, only maybe 2 or 3Mbps.

But regardless of that, i still want a higher quality/up to date NIC which people are suggesting the Intel, so thats what ill go for.

and his PC is at his moms house now so kinda hard to do any tests with now :)
