Should i get a gtx 1080ti with 8 GB ram or GTX 1080 with 16 GB ram for 1440p?

i'd say 1080 ti since its eeasier to upgrade ram than a gpu down the line.

first at that level you surely can use 16GB RAM and second for everything less then 4K the 1080 Ti is a huge waste and would require more then 8GB RAM...

Oh thats not so true. Once Volta releases the price of the Ti will drop radical. And buying it then new would be with the cost of 1080 in the end cheaper espacially when you sell the 1080 then. And there alot enthusiast (like me) that will buy the Volta and sell then a not even 1 year old 1080 Ti for real low price (according to my estimation aproximatly 350$ for mine).

1060 6GB or higher and you should be at 12+ GB of RAM, otherwise u won't get the full benefits of such GPUs.

Hmm for such a build I would always take a quality Samsung SSD (or WD which isnt as good imo).

...on the other hand I would always take Samsung SSD anyway :D. And consider a full ATX Z270 Board.

Kingston also makes great SSDs.
