svchost
So I have a virus called svchost, supposedly it is a Trojan that will use up 80% of my CPU and cause my PC to overheat. Could this also cause my video cards to crash?

The svchost.exe process hosts other Windows services, such as the DHCP client, the DNS client, Windows Update Service, the firewall and Wireless Lan Services to name but a few.

It is possible that you indeed have malware on your system pretending to be svchost. Run a scan with malwarebytes, if it is unable to remove the virus (or if it does not detect anything at all) reinstall Windows.

Also it is possible that you do not have a virus but your PC is simply clogged up with dust causing overheating and thermal throttling.

Infecting the system file svchost.exe can result in any result, depending on what the author of the virus wanted. In rare cases - this can lead to phisical damage to the video card \ processor \ disk from overheating.
There have been problems with certain Windows updates that can cause the normal Windows process svchost to run excessively. I have run into that issue, but I rarely run Windows, so I forget what I did to resolve it. Web search "svchost running high".

It's normal, Windows Updates will use it when installing and compiling updates.
Just wait until CPU usage settles down, and then Restart.
Then run Disk Cleanup and clear all the cache for everything listed.
