Like any hardware, either it dies or becomes insufficient for the demands of games; which ever comes first.

i7 + 970M should still last quite a good while still.
If you don't have already, get 16GB RAM and SSD, and Win10 64bit

This is why we suggest Desktops for Gaming; when the main specs are decent (like CPU) usually your fine for twice the life of any Laptop; then when Games demand more, upgrade the GPU.

i heard the most fragile part in a PC is it's motherboard. A normal Motherboard's lifespan is around 5000 hours.

5,000 hours testing was at 105*C

OMG, no most can last easily that 50,000 hours no problems

Every PC I've built has lasted at least 5+ years no problems.

You didn't read much of that link did you.

Your card will be suffering from new games (FullHD & Ultra preset) in just 1-2 years, not more. But if playing not in Ultra settings is OK for you, it will be enough for 3 years.
Personally, I don't like buying new games because of that - they cost more, offers less, and demanding very powerfull (expensive) hardware.

The whole page is an explanation that you can expect the capacitors on your laptop to last ~57 years!, not 5000 hours. It's also not about a normal motherboard, but about an Asus motherboard with top of the line components.

Get your head out of the clouds, boy! ;)

see the graph in the middle of the page..........

light office work ( using MS OFFICE) ---------------------------------------------57 years.
light gaming---------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------18 years.
heavy gaming ( like CRYSIS series, see the photo ) ----------------------- 5.7 years.
always running at 105 degree celsius---------------------------------------- 5000 hours ( 6 months).

And as you have said, that time frame is applicable only for best quality ASUS Motherboards.

Means in normal motherboards, one can expect only half of the Durability.

IMO, it's poor designed mobo, if it runs at 105C. It should not, in any case or application (like rendering, gaming or anything else) be so hot.

they made that temperature artificially in the lab for durability test.

Playing utra isint that big of a deal. I dont mind play with the presets to make the game run as long as it at the medium settings.
Bad 💀 Motha 25. juni 2017 kl. 11.57
So yea... when the games start requiring specs that basically makes yours unplayable.
By the time that happens, it'll be 5+ years usually and you'll be lucky to actually have some Laptops hold up that long before things break or burn up.
