115X CPU models?
Now that I have cracked open the fan and saw the CPU, but the number on it says "115X" (Yes there's really an "X" on it)

What modern processors support this slot?

Just look at the Motherboard model; its printed on the board.
From that we'll know exactly what all it supports for things like CPU and RAM

I got a previous thread on my motherboard and it's an OEM motherboard. (Hell, it doesn't even HAVE a model name nor number)

Sure they do, they all do.

Do it still power on? Can you get in the BIOS or an OS?
Vincent Jun 22, 2017 @ 5:14pm
OS? Definitely. That's how I know that the motherboard is an unknown model.

Though the system is an Acer Aspire M1935.

Nevermind, I found the Motherboard model: IPIMB-AR
printed right on the board btw...

Looking up that Acer system now...

And what is the current CPU installed in that?

thats most likely an intel 1151 etc generic slot i.e. 115x

From what I can gather it is a B75 LGA-1155

Current CPU is an Intel Pentium G645. Dual core, 2.9 GHz.

Yup, LGA-1155; so you're limited to CPUs like i5-2500K / i7-2600K

And how fares the performance of those 2? Decent to play MGS5?

Yes either would do fine; heck of alot better compared to any Pentium or i3 on that socket.
Problem is finding such old CPUs, maybe Ebay.

Old?
I checked the i5 2500K and it was made in October 2016.

No way. They are EOL around 2012-2013.

Well bad news: The dealer said it's discontinued so I say "♥♥♥♥ it and paid both a new i5 and a new Asus motherboard".
Now I'm like having a new rig, minus the case.
