PC Shuts down while gaming, restarts, Sapphire RX-480 nitro+ 8gb doesn't work.
Today while playing hitman my computer shut down and restarted, it's the first time it has ever happend, I thought there was a blackout but my TV was still on.

Anyway the GPU gave no video feedback, the led on the side turns on but nothing else, the fans don't spin (they never spin below 52°C, although I think they are supposed to spin on startup?) the card is connected through an hdmi cable, for a second the tv goes from no signal to black screen to no signal again, I switched the hdmi cable to the motherboard slot to use the onboard graphics (I5 4670) and it gives video feedback, meaning the GPU isn't even recognized as active, I checked the bios it's set to prioritize the PCI slot.

When the PC shut down I couldn't smell any burning plastic from inside, I'm at a loss.

I know it's a long shot and the GPU is probably done but do you have any suggestions?

The PSU is an XFX TS 650

Thing is the video feed defaults from the onboard graphics, so it wouldn't change, plus on device manager the gpu doesn't result connected.

Do you have multiple PCI-E slots on your motherboard? It's looking more and more like a dead graphics card, or a dead PCI-E slot.

Yeah I just said above I tried it on another PCIe slot 16x 2.0 I never used it and it doesn't work, only the sapphire led powers up, which works regardless if the 8 pin pci cable is connected, probably draws power from the motherboard for that.

Most Motherboards will not allow using a different PCIEx16 slot for a GPU, if its the only GPU in the system. Either try the 480 GPU in another working system, or have it tested when you have a chance. For warranty (if needed) then you're most likely have to go through Sapphire Support > Warranty > RMA; which you can do via their official website.

Try it on another pc. No sense in buying a new gpu unless you're sure it is the gpu.

I literally had the same thing happened to me except I was playing CROSSOUT.

It's the exact same card, but I had my other card to test the problems, which is a GTX 960 from Gigabyte. Everything still works and I had no other problems with the PC since using my older 960 instead. It's not my PSU or my motherboard, so I've been pretty clueless about what to do with it now...

It was broken, I replaced it with a GTX1060 at the time
