Not using the included usb to 4-pole adapter, which is for Mobile devices or other devices that use single 4-pole jack (Audio In & Out from single jack)
Firstly; set the large volume knob (Game vs Chat) in the middle.
On the Headset itself, turn this volume knob to the max and ensure the Mic is not muted.
Then take a look at how everything is configured within the SteelSeries audio app itself.

When i did this i got a blue screen which worried me, then when it started back up my mic was finally working, i'm so happy :)
