Question about PWM Fan Splitters

I am new to fan splitters and fan hubs etc, am i correct in saying the fan splitter will still allow for the 3 pin (non pwm) fans to increase and decreased in speed depending on voltage and will not be at a fixed speed?

3pin uses voltage control
4pin molex is also voltage control
4pin fan header is pwm

fan header pinout
pin 1 = gnd
pin 2 = +12v (or variable voltage control)
pin 3 = rpm/sense (input from 1 fan only if using a splitter)
pin 4 = pwm (output)

you cannot use pwm and voltage control at the same time

if the splitter only uses the mobo header, it will work with voltage control
if it uses a molex/sata power it will run 12v to the fans for pwm control

If it's supports 4 pin pwm, it will always support a 3 pin DC fan, yes.

if you use a 3pin fan on 4pin header set to pwm, the fan will be at 100% all of the time since its not voltage controlled

How would i tell if its set to PWM?

Bios has those fan settings.
PWM vs DC
