Ryzen 5 3600 high temps with Cooler Master hyper 212
Hey,
I recently upgraded my cpu ( ryzen 5 1600x) to ryzen 3600 .
I got a solid idle temp with 34c , ingame 50c at top with the old 1600x but not with the new one...
3600 is running constantly with 1.45 core voltage at 4.1 core speed.
Idle temperature between 45c and 60c , ingame runs with 50c-80c.( sometimes it hits 80c but goes down asap.)
I ran AIDA64 program to stress test it for an hour and the temp spikes were even there... it hit 80c like every 10 min , then immidiately went back to 74c which was like the base top temp in that program.
My thermal paste is mx-4 , I never had any problem with it before.
My new pc case is the cooler master h500 with 3 stock fans. Cpu cooler is the cooler master hyper 212.
Whats up with this cpu ? Is it normal that it runs hot like this with a third party cooler? Do I need to check anything in the bios ?
Cpu: ryzen 5 3600
Mobo: b450m ds3h-cf ( newest bios)
Graphics card : rtx 2070 ( newest driver)
Ram : 2x8gb 2666mhz
Psu : SilverStone Essential Gold ET750-HG 750W
Thanks in advance.

Okey so I reset the cpu cooler ,remade the thermal paste ( now I used cross type instead of one little dot to the middle) It runs like 7c lower than before! Thats something...but it still keeps spike up to 55c. I think I will live with these temps from here.
Thanks for everyone all the help !
That's somewhat normal now. My 3900X with a 360mm AIO and Kryonaut paste can spike into the 50s at "idle" state sometimes.

The EVO V2 has an offset position regarding the design of the heatpipes. Making tall ram a real non-issue for the 212 now compared to older Hyper212 Plus or EVO
idk man, I have run some pretty tall ram with classic 212's...

That q6700 on a push pull 212+ used these:

https://www.newegg.com/patriot-4gb-240-pin-ddr3-sdram/p/N82E16820220286

And thats some pretty tall af ram (those fins were super long lol).

Though maybe more newer boards have the ram closer to the slots so its more of an issue. I used it in a GA-EP45t-UD3P

But I am glad to hear they keep working to update and keep the line valid as a value option. Seems their new black model and silencio model are both pretty decent for what they are.

I myself have not had issues with tall ram even with the old EVO. But the V2 is an improvement non the less.

I've had to on countless occasions explain to folks how to install it properly when using certain ram.

Many fail to realize even though the EVO fan is installed onto clips, it never has to be installed by clipping it on from the side. You would generally install the mount and heatsink first, then all your ram. Then take the fan and slide it downward and onto the heatsink from the top of the right hand side of it. If the ram is tall, just move the fan down the slider until it stops.

a few ways around the ram
mount it as pull tward the rear of the case
or push with the fan lifted slightly above the ram

if the mobo has poor vrm cooling its best to have a stock style cooler

A Hyper212 does cool the vrms. As the air not only pushes front to back but out the sides of the cooler as well. RAM is not an issue since the fan slides up/down on the cooler.
