UPnP/DLNA vs SMB/CIFS
Is there any difference when coming to streaming video ? Is one better than the other?

If you want the best performance use NFS. Last time I checked however NFS was a pain in the butt to get working on Windows machines.

Use SMB if you find NFS to be too difficult to setup.

DLNA is the way to go, it is just for media and there is no need for filesystem sharing protocols at all, full BW is for media. I disabled all UPNP on my network, quick solution just use a linux server to avoid.
