Razer Blade Just Stopped Working
I recently just got an older Razer Blade (2013 to be exact) and it had some problems but was in full working condition. The other day I took it apart to repaste it because it was getting really hot and I decided to replace the fans too because one was making a clicking sound. When I went to boot it up at first, No light or anything It just wouldnt turn on. After putting the old fans back in, It began working again just as it had before. As of earlier I transported it in my bag and when I went to plug it back in when i get home, It isnt showing any signs of life anymore. The laptop does not have a battery and sometimes gets disconnected from the charger before fully shut down. Is this an issue with the CMOS battery or could this be a larger issue? I have never had this happen before.

it needs a semi-full charged batt or ac adapter to run

plug in the ac adapter, give it a minute to figure out it has no batt then try it

Well for starters, sounds like a faulty power wall brick. Or the power plug/socket on the laptop. The power socket on any laptop are really fragile. Sometimes it might need to be replaced or just resoldered of the current one to address such issues. As it seems like your wall brick either has issues, or simply does not always make a good connection. But again either the power brick or laptop-side power socket could be your problem.

Also whenever you put a laptop back together you must check everything to be sure you didn't miss plugging anything back where it goes and that each connection is solid. And that during reassembly, that no cables inside get sharply bent or crimped.

And double check that once back together, that all ports correctly line up to the openings on the chassis as flush as possible.

Not sure why you'd take a gamble on such an old laptop thag isn't going to be able to run modern games.

Im going to use it for school, but every tab and plug are put in correctly, The powerbrick is new and I also tested it with a different brick.

Well since you took it apart it could be potentially anything at this point. Could even be lack of battery pack or a dying cmos battery.

Cmos battery in laptop are a coin battery wrapped in heat-shrink, connected via a 2 wire cable. Some might be installed into a small socket, similar to what we always see on desktop motherboards.

Yes its a small dime sized battery wrapped in black heat shrink. Is there any way to test it?

With a volt meter, sure.
If it dropped below approx 2.9-2.95 volts, it needs replacing. You can look up your laptop model on ebay and get replacement parts such as the battery. So that it comes with the shrink wrap and wiring already on it. Battery from another laptop could work, as long as you are able to get it to plug into your laptops motherboard

oh my gosh you might have just made my day with giving me a little hope. I checked the plug and it was sending power to the battery plug so it would charge the battery but when I checked the cmos battery which should be using 3v and was only using about 1.5-1.3v.

razor blades need to be replaced every few times you use them
get a 100 pack next time
https://www.amazon.com/OEMTOOLS-25181-Razor-Blades-Pack/dp/B000CMFJZ2

ot: cmos battery just saves settings when not powered by batt or brick
most on newer laptops are soldered to the board

if you know the laptops model you can try looking for a replacement or at a teardown vid

but its a laptop, default settings should be fine 99% of the time anyway
may just need to hit a key to continue on boot

It didn’t have a battery originally and I think I might have unplugged it while it was running which cut all power to the board. The cmos battery was putting out about half as many volts as it should have. It would not turn on at all. No beep code, no spinning fans even for a second or two and no indicator light.

the cmos batt is not designed to run the laptop
it needs a semi-full charged batt or ac adapter to run

plug in the ac adapter, give it a minute to figure out it has no batt then try it

I don’t think that will have any effect on it. The cmos battery was putting out about half as much as it should have been.

Under load the CMOS battery will experience a voltage drop over a resistive load. If you disconnect the CMOS battery and it reads 3V+ your fine.

Yuck soldered on RAM piece of crap.

No the CMOS battery was completely disconnected and when the terminals were connected directly to the battery it read 1.5v at max

I have had instances where a dead CMOS battery prevented booting.

Cmos battery is usually required to boot the system every since Intel 2nd Gen stuff came out.
