Would a 500w PSU do for a gtx1070TI

I was looking around for a new graphics card for my build (i got a gtx960 for now) and i noticed the GTX1070TI at a good price so i ordered it. i've been looking at PSU calculators and a my ol' 500w psu (have not checked if it's a high quality one yet...) seems to be in the clear. i dunno if it's gonna work irl though.

I would be glad if anybody could hit me up with some opinions or facts if a 500w is good or not, even maybe tell me what kind of level of Wattage i should get for the future.
EDIT: since so many asked. my psu PS-500 is not top notch quality i think. and specs:

Without knowing your PSU model, we can't tell.

best power supplies typically come in wattages of 550, 650, 750, etc.

If it has the right connections, 500w is plenty unless you are running an i9, or plan sli, which, is unlikely.

Rest of your specs are fine for GTX 1070 Ti but PSU in uncertain, PS-500 doesnt really mean anything, most likely just means power supply-500W.
Would need to know the brand or serial number from the label at the PSU.

Even then, I still feel 500W is pushing it a bit with a 1070Ti. More if your PSU is a grey box that looks like an OEM part. My own 1060 is already pulling 120W by itself. More performance can only demand more power... Plus, it's also heavily recommended to get a high quality PSU. Some people recommend Gold Certified stuff. But unless you are going to overclock, I don't see too much need on top of the line PSUs. Just get one from a reputable brand (like Corsair) with somewhere around 600-700W and you will have plenty of secure power.

Yes but there can be significant difference in manufacturing quality of 500W PSUs, you need to know what you are using, there are plenty of 500W PSUs that can burn your rig down or short-circuit half your components.

Even if it's a silver box it might still be ok if it's 80+ certified.. But Imo I wouldn't risk any silver box running expensive hardware.. Good power supplies are way cheaper than new graphics cards or entire system if the silver box decided to crap out

Check reviews of the psu you are considering before buying. jonnygury.com is the best site. Don't buy anything that doesn't score 9/10 or better. Any problem such as poor voltage regulation or ripple control means avoid.

The silver, gold, 80+ stuff is of minor importance. Here is an example -

At least that is the only "PS-500" I was able to find through google search.

If yes, you REALLY need to change it to something better.

Sorry for responding so late but.. the PSU is a plexgear PS-500. there's no almost no info on any site i can find. i saw somewhere it's from 2010 so it's probably a 8 year old PSU i have in my PC xd. i'm probably going to end up changing it for a 650w or something higher. when i get the gtx1070TI i'm gonna try first to boot the PC then maybe start a game. if the game has poor performance or some other things i got hooked up cuts out i'll definately buy a new one. one of my friends did the same thing but with a 1060, he hooked it up played some games then one of the monitors and the mouse cut out so he bought a new PSU and everything was fine.
