Mechanical Key Chattering.
I have this $50 Red dragon keyboard that has some keys register two keystrokes at once. I looked up the problem, and its known as "Key chatter". I was wondering if there's maybe a fix for it? Or do i have to buy a new keyboard?

replace the defective switch
or swap it to modifier keys, shift/ctrl/alt, where redundant presses are not taken as inputs

That sounds like it wouldn't be worth it. Aren't the switches solidered in? I had this keyboard for a year so maybe its time for a replacement. Maybe this time not a mechanical keyboard if this is going to be a problem.

depends on the board
most are soldered, some are socketed

if a friend knows how to desolder ask for help with it

It being a Redragon is the problem, non-mech is downright less reliable.

I would get a real keyboard like a Ducky and go from there.

So i switched back to my old Eclipse keyboard for now. Thanks guys for the help! I might get another mechanical keyboard in the future, but i'll make sure that it's not a cheap piece of crap.

which keyboard do you have?

k552 is mech with kailh switches

a few are 'mech feel' or mecha-dome, which are membrane keys that give a 'click' feel

For the red dragon https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1531448888&sr=8-3&keywords=redragon+keyboard

For the Eclipse http://www.techfresh.net/saitek-eclipse-iii-keyboard/

Not sure which one you mean.

As you can see the model of my Eclipse is very old . Probably 10 years old.

the reddragon, if its the 552 is well its worth fixing

kailh switches are cheap, 10 switchs for $3 on ebay
order a set and have a friend replace them or take it to reliable repair shop

or if its new and under warranty contact the seller for a replacemnet

Yeah it is the 552. Im wondering though if the switchs are soldered on. I do have a soldering iron, so i could do it myself. The question is though would i really want to go with cheap switches? What is the probabilty of the switches i buy being bad?

kailh are chinese cherry mx clones
not as good as cherry, but lots better than dome or membrane
odds of 1 being bad in a 104keyboard is pretty low

if you get a bad one from ebay, complain and they are free

desoldering those will be tricky, multiple pins with long leads and thick board will take good desoldering tools so not to damage the pcb
