Also 2 1//2 inch SSDs are not much bigger than a credit card they are 2 1/2 wide and about 1/4 inch tall. Normal laptop drive bay size. They are designed to fit in laptops

If you know how big a sata cable is you can get an idea of how small that is ( 4th picture down )..Like I say not much bigger than a credit card.
Sure you did. Why are you not using that Asus ROG. You go on beliveing what you want. I give up on trying to give you any suggestions. Laptops have a standarized drive bay. Peripheral manufacturers design there hardware to fit in those bays..Common sense.
2- how is this related to the issue presented on the OP?
if you had a bad experience with them it might have been a falty device or there was something else with that particular set of software running on the device. i've had several spinning disks die on me within 6 months of use, so they are by no means 100% reliable, same with SSD's.
as for your issue. my guess is that you have some issues with the power management driver, hence i sugested you install the version of the Intel Management Engine provided by your device's maker. have you done that yet?
i would also sugest(again) looking into the system logs to find out what is triggering the issue when you resume from hibernation.
That being said, it's so necessary for you to work with notepad? Can you use another text editor as was already suggested? Really, notepad is like the ie6 of the text editors...
Well, it is not about the editor but the file type. You can create the same plain text files with any other editor (notepad++ and kate, to mention two) plus getting more advanced edit tools.
In the other hand, as you need to share, and maybe, get some feedback from people you send your work, wouldn't be better to use Writer app from google gsuite? I mean, it works with any web browser, something that is quite standard too.
