Anyway to get Geforce 10 drivers to work on Win10 (10240)?
I've looked around on the web and now understand that nVidia doesn't like build 10240 of Windows 10 for their 10 series graphics cards so can't install a driver. Is there a registry tweak to make it think I'm using build 10586 or later because I want to avoid one of those feature-rich versions like Pro etc. ATI doesn't have this issue does it?

10240? That's horribly outdated version. The support for it ended in May 9 2017. Over a year ago.
Go and install newest version of the Windows.

I always get Microsoft updates for it once a month so I'm a bit confused. Also I want to stick with LTSB if possible as, while I like features yes, I don't like future features being imposed.

Is there not a way to tweak the registry so I can install my nVidia driver on build 10240?

I'm with Sapph on this one. Get the newest Windows, problem solved. What you're doing is just having an OCD with "having older version of Win 10 for better functionality", when in reality you can't even get your Nvidia drivers installed...

If you were to have up-to-date version, you would be on version 1803 at the least, build 17134 right now.
You should just go and update to newest possible build.

But what happens when someone out there decides I should have a new feature I don't want? That's why I went LTSB in the first place.

You should have the ability to disable it.

How does that affect you at all? If you don't like a feature...DON'T USE IT.
it is there for those who do need it, if you don't, you can just ignore it.

Main thing about build updates is that it fixes the bugs, glitches and other problems.
And older versions do not get all the security updates either, so you're leaving some exploits open in your system for malware to possibly exploit.

Old versions of Windows 10 get security updates which is all I wanted, but nVidia has brought me here.

Anyway, the reason why I prefer lean versions of Windows 10 is because of bloatware and info cathering stuff. It can take me 15 minutes looking through every setting, turning things off like "can we use your data?", and when apathy sets in we can all miss things.

it takes about 30 seconds to select no on all options, maybe another 30 to download shutupwindows if you are really paranoid, frankly, i dont see the issue, none of the info contains anything identifying or important, i swear everyone who is paranoid about what windows collects must be up to some REALLY shady poop that they are so worried.

It doesn't take 30 seconds as everything has to be checked first unless we're all shallow zombies. And it's not about paranoia, it's about not being gullible.

If it's not paranoia, then I bet you don't even use Google or any smart phone.
Because Google, Android and Apple have done same collecting for YEARS.

There is nothing in the data collecting that can straight up be tracked to you.
And the bloatware? Well, if you have Home version, especially a retail one, you will get those until disabling them manually being able to be installed.

I'm not overally cautious, it's just my behavior depends on theirs and I like stable systems that give a sense, even if illusionary, of ownership. Imagine if after taking out a mortgage your bank came around to knock down a wall saying their user survey reported people like bigger rooms, but you don't.

But it doesn't matter now as found a slightly later version that also locks features and is compat with nVidia 10 series.

It is still fully under your ownership. You decide what you do with your system.
On Win10 Pro, I have never even once gotten the bloatware like Candy Crush etc.

And the newer versions are MUCH more stable than an old version like the 10240 or whatever version you found now.

After all, the point of updates is making things more stable.

LOL, just put 1803 on and download "Shutup" by O&O if it worries you so, PIA is about $3.50 a month if you're concerned about they, them, those ppl will find you.
