Samsung 860 QVO or EVO SSD for gaming?
Hey, I just recently brought a Samsung 860 QVO not knowing and about the EVO. I'm strictly using it for gaming. I read QVO doesn't last as long, prone to over heating ( not sure if that's true) and slows down if you transfer too many files.

I've read that if you're only using it for gaming it's fine. The durability and longevity is low - should I be worried.

Thanks for the help.

Drives using QLC like the Samsung QVO series will still outlive the average HDD by at least a decade. Don't worry about it.

Overheating is generally only and issue with SSDs if you torture them, gaming is really not disk heavy.

It only slows down if you transfer huge amounts of data at once, TLC disk also do this but can move more data before doing it. You will never encounter this issue unless you want to copy 250GB+ of data on to a 1TB disk without pause.

It's quite clear if you view the TBW endurance warranty of all the Samsung SSD models on their website.

There is also an updated "PLUS" lineup to look at as well.

I wouldn't worry about overheating, even Samsung 970 and other NVME SSD do very well with heat so you definitely shouldn't have to worry about any sata speed ssd overheat issues, such as all the 860 SSDs which are all just sata speeds at best.

You can also take a look at the Chinese generic ssd that uses the same chipset and everything from Samsung, they are just a cheaper no-name OEM version of those various Samsung SSDs
