gaming hardware setup (desk, steering wheel, etc) semi-long post
I play mostly farmsim and flightsim and I also play a host of other games that use the keyboard and mouse as well.

I have the following hardware:

Thrustmaster steering wheel+pedals
Logitech 3D joystick
Logitech farmsim side panel

I also have a Saitek yoke+pedals as well but I don't actively use it.

Now, with all this in mind I know there are mounts I can buy and attach the peripherial(sp?) set to it (so for example I have the mount for steering wheel+pedal which can also be used for yoke+pedals but its also a PITA to keep swapping them out so I could just buy a 2nd one but nah... and here's why: I'm visually impaired and like the monitor up close, I have a 49" curved ultrawide!

My chief complaint is that I like to have everything front and center, keyboard, steering wheel mainly; the side panel can stay off to the side like my logitech joystick. If I use one of those wheel/pedal movable stand/mounts then that takes me further away from the monitor thus the need to bring it closer but what about mounting it to the desk? Again, no problem really but the monitor gets moved further back thus the frustration.

my desk isn't actually a desk; my desk consists of one of those lifetime plastic convention style folding tables its got a pretty thick edge (if it weren't for the metal rails which support the folding legs it wouldn't be as thick) and I've really thought about getting an actual desk but I for the life of me can't decide! I know what style of a desk I want but I'm afraid to just order it online because of what I envision and what I'll actually get are two different things (I tend to prefer buying my furnys in person and then having ti delivered)

My desk looks like this: https://www.lifetime.com/lifetime-2901G-6-foot-folding-table-commercial (link is for informational purposes, not attempting to advertise in any way).

I have seen one of those gaming seats/cockpits that hold monitor, wheel/pedal, and a separate keyboard/mouse tray and a spot for the handbrake (so this is primarily a racing setup) I've thought about that except that where do I put the farmsim side panel? My table can go somewhere else (I don't really "need" a table to play PC games but I do need it to do general PC stuff which I would not want to do from a gaming cockpit so I'd have to get a KVM and a smaller table and perhaps another monitor for when I do want to do that (or use my macbook I guess)

Now if I got an actual computer desk the thickness of the edge/lip wouldn't be nearly as thick and I can mount more stuff to it properly.but I'm also OK with the desk/tables I have and looked at getting a keyboard/mouse tray that attaches to my office chair instead and that could in theory work but I haven't seen any good reviews or brand options that work well (most seem to be some weird Chinese brand and crazy terrible reviews).

I still need a way to bring the monitor close; I did find a keyboard/mouse tray that uses C clamps and this too could work with my current table in theory and then I can mount my steering wheel.

I have watched some game streamers who have their wheel in the center and keyboard off to their right on another table/desk next to them; I could do that setup too but I tend to need my keyboard even for farmsim as some things I would like to still be able to multi task and use my keyboard/mouse so the gaming cockpit isn't the best but it is an option.

I'd be looking for an L desk and I haven't found one I like yet but need to so it seems like this is the direction I'll likely go but I'm open to other options but just need to be able to make it work for my needs all around.

Are any of you using L computer desks? I'd like to find a good quality sturdy desk not some cheap crap I've seen over the years.

I do have one. I couldn't tell you the brand or anything, since I got it on Amazon years ago. My only complaint is the sliding tray only fits the keyboard. I'd prefer a slide-out tray that's wide enough for both a keyboard and mousepad with wrist-pad side-by-side.

One recommendation I will make is to not be afraid of using a hole-cutting saw and installing a power outlet grommet with USB hub. Every desk should have a power outlet grommet with USB hub. If the Resolute Desk doesn't have one, it's officially a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ desk and should have a hole cut in it and one installed.

Yeah I noticed the tray at Amazon doesn't do mouse, but I can get a C clamp mouse pad too which is ALSO fine too as it swivels around.

So you have a resolute desk? Where'd you get yours?

I'm looking at a "resolute desk" its a Heritage Hill Exec desk; that's a bit more than what I need/want though but I do agree if I could get a desk with power and USB that's gonna be more helpful too.
