Playstation 4 or Pro
I wondering if I should get a playstation 4 or PlayStation 4 Pro
(I already have a old playstation 3 for that matter)

I have a 42" Panasonic VIERA TX-L42U10E which I play to connect with a HDMI channel. So basis I wondering if I should get the PS4 standard/default console or the PS4/PRO version.

I have a interest in this games
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
The Last of Us Part II
Red Dead Redemption 2
Detroit: Become Human
Days Gone
Death Stranding
Metal Gear Survive
Valkyria Revolution
Horizon Zero Dawn

Does not matter. Get pro if you can afford it.

You don't have The Last Guardian, SotC, or FFXV anywhere on that list...

They're basically the same, so get a Pro if you can afford it.

Also get third party controllers. My PS4 remotes broke within a week of use, and its a known issue.

If you can afford the Pro get a Pro. 4k if you get a new 4kTV later but will still improve graphics and more fps on 1080p displays for games that allow it.

Ps4 pro and ps4 is not same. Night and day difference. PRO has more than double GPU power than ps4.

But they both play the same common ps4 game library. But when played in ps4PRO, every game will run in 4k mode.
that's the difference.

So if you have a 4k TV, go for pro.

My 42" Panasonic only support a 1920x1080 with a display format 1080p (Full HD)

I dont plan on buying a new TV for the next couple of years, so gonna skip 4K there.

I would rather focus on getting 4K for my PC.

You don't need a 4k screen for a PS4 Pro. The PS4 Pro will give you better looking games then the normal PS4 even at 1080p.

Sony claims it that way, but i didn't found any truth in it. If you have any comparison videos that shows that ps4Pro has better graphics quality in 1080p, pls feel free to share.

PS4 PRO still looks better on 1080p TVs; the different between PS4 vs PRO will look like the difference between No Anti-Aliasing; vs some AA applied. PRO appears to have more stable FPS averages as well.

PRO still fully supports 1080p Displays, for obvious reasons. You are not forced to using 2160p (4K) Display only.

I would only consider a PRO if you have yet to buy a PS4 or looking to buy another one that would perhaps last you a bit longer overall. Especially since its no longer brand new, they've been restocked quite a bit now, and the prices have even come down in some areas/regions.

4K for PC with ease, I would wait til the VEGA and VOLTA GPU families are here and ready to buy. And for that, also make sure you're on nothing less than a modern gen i7 class or Ryzen-7 class of CPU

The games will run in 1440p (or 4k) and be downscaled which results in a sharper image. And some games have extra effects and details on the Pro. And the Pro will have a more stable FPS. Also the Pro can handle PS VR better.

An i5 or Ryzen 5 do alright in 4K, and even an FX-8370 is surprisingly passable. The issue stems from the GPU, not the CPU.

You still need a strong CPU, regardless. If you don't understand, then please just dont bother replying to Hardware help. If you need folks to explain it, sure... but I'm not going to waste time over it when it's just common sense as to why.

Yes those are the things that Sony claims. But I have seen lots of YouTube comparison videos( and in real life too), but couldn't found any graphics quality difference between PRO and original PS4. There are no extra graphical effects. They are exact same version of games, only difference is one is running at 4k and one at 1080p.

That's why I am asking, if you have any comparison videos that shows PS4PRo has better graphics quality or any extra graphical effects. Feel free to share.

Using a Pro on a 1080p display I find it easier to think of it like using Nvidias Dsr to render @higher resolutions 1440p, 1800p or 4k and downsampling it to 1080p display. Is basically the same sort of process.

For those that have not tried it and still don't except the it will make a difference on the Pro try it. Even if your system isn't powerful enough for you to get 2 fps, try it, you only need a still image. Enable DSR for 4k1440p whatever. Load the game, change resolution then load your savegame, don't move and take a screenshot then close the game. Turn DSR off then load the game up to the exact same spot, don't move and take another screenshot. Compare them and you'll see a difference.

Even without that and all the little extras a game might receive and the VR boost. The higher and more stable fps at 1080p should be a good enough reason to choose a Pro over the standard PS4
Omega 2017 年 6 月 19 日 上午 10:43
The extra graphical effects are optional, I think Horizon Zero Dawn has some extra effects on the Pro. And you can not see the difference on some highly compressed Youtube vid between the Pro and non Pro.

All PS Pro vs PS non Pro vids I can find do not have a FPS counter.

But still it is just logic, a more powerfull machine can get more FPS if the devs so choose.

I actually have both. On a regular 32" 1080p TV I really can't tell the difference, maybe someone else can, but I can't. On our 65" 4k TV the difference in resolution was very noticeable, the Pro gave a sharper image even at the home screen, 4k YouTube videos would play in 4k, etc .

For me at least there was a difference regarding the wireless adapter on the two, this could vary for others.

Playsation 4 has a single band wireless N adapter. Can only connect to our 2.4Ghz network, download speed: about 30Mbps-50Mbps, upload speed: 6.8Mbps.

Playstation 4 pro has a dual band wireless AC adapter. Can connect to our 2.4Ghz network and both 5ghz networks, download speed: about 150Mbps, upload speed: 9Mbps. On the 2.4 Ghz network the speeds seem to similliar to other PS4.

That just my experience with the wireless. I don't wan't to go too in depth but I notice in the Asus software for my router the PS4 pro has a much higher receiving and transmission rate especially on the 5Ghz networks.

PS4 Rx Rate: 7.2Mbps, Tx Rate: 39Mbps

PS4 pro Rx Rate: 351-468 Mbps, Tx Rate: 175Mbps

I don't know how the standard PS4 is getting 30MBps download with a 7.2Mbps Rx rate but it is.

Of course none of this matters if your using an ethernet cable :P
