high ping
For the past 3 days my ping has been really high. I use a Asus G11 pc and have good internet. Never had ping issues before but now I cant play online games because my ping reaches up to 200 constantly. What could be the reason? Theres nobody in my house using the internet its just me. Even with other people in the house watching netflix, gaming online, or streaming I always have perfect connection. If you have any clue whats wrong please tell me. Thanks

Reset your router, just pull the plug for 2 minutes.

Also make sure your PC is not infected with malware.

Maybe someone hacked you or got your password by someone else another thing to have high ping is that someone is DDOSing you. You should look who is joining to your network

I doubt it...

Yes it's going too far to hack someone's Wi-Fi password but I gave an idea

You power off the modem/router and restart it?

You check to see if the PC affected is downloading anything while you're getting this bad performance? Such as Windows Updates?
lol. nothing compared to my 300-400ping when connected to us/eu servers.
i can connect to japan server for 110ping.

as much as possible, connect to nearest gaming server.

Yes I powered off my modem several times over the last 3 days. My ping is still terrible. All my driver are up to date. And nobody is hacking me, I have no viruses or malware. And no one is ddosing me lol

Yes it was the update that fixed all these problems. My ping is a lot better than it has been. But before I used to play games with a constant 20-25 ping. Now its just in the low 30s. Its definitely still playable, but its just a little weird.

So what is the issue now?
If you having poor ping/jitter after having tried all the basics, please contact and complain to the ISP, it could easily be a ISP line related problem.

This can cause high ping.
- Downloading something in the background, as you're playing online.
- To many devices, or someone downloading and hogging the bandwidth.
- Modem needed to be reset.
- An issue within your area, or going to your area, that only your ISP can fix.

If the 1st three options are not the cause, you have no choice to contact your ISP, have them ping you, if they find it high, request for them to send someone to you, to check your modem, and your area, also make sure they say it's free of charge before sending someone out to you, or else they will try to bill you for it.

thank you. It is not any of the first 3 causes. I know for a fact that the internet in my area is generally poor. And it has been raining a bit lately, Idk if that can affect anything. I will have to call in tomorrow, because it doesnt seem like its going to get better. :(

Try pressing Winkey+R
type resmon
click OK
Then click on Network tab
below this are 4 larger box areas, expand those so you can see inside
now see if anything is seems to have unusual activity when your PC is idle.

Which ISP is it exactly?
