What are the worst PC specs you have ever seen someone with?
Do note, outdated PCs don't count. It has to be a bad build overall.

Any time someone bought a prebuilt and wanted to play PC games but it only had integrated video... in the 2000's when Intel's integrated video didn't really support Direct3D and those systems often didn't have an AGP slot. And using PCI cards (not PCI-E) would work, but was only so-so. And PC's were more expensive then, relatively speaking, so that made it worse.

Prebuilt was an especially dirty word among the builder/gaming crowd in that era.

Motherboard with teamed power phase like MSI Z290 Pro-A has it is terrible. Wrong opamp for swappable IC socket on the motherboard. Bad airflow case. Holes on tempered glass of the PC case.

or cpus in the wrong chipsets
ex. fx in a6x-7xx and nvidia when they belong 970-990fx

less common on am4 but there are a few bd/pd based cpus for am4

Teamed power?
i7 2600K, 12 GB RAM, GTX 1060 3 GB - with no CPU cooling (No heatsink or anything)... Instant crash on Windows Logo...

:-) I had a pretty odd setup!

i3 6100
RX 580
16Gb 3600mhz RAM

It benchmarked best with the RAM at 3000mhz. Shadow of the Tomb Raider benchmark said the GPU was the 'bottleneck' 82% of the time and upgrading to an i5 6500 made no difference whatsoever except for GTA V.

FWIW, I ended up with this strange rig because the RX 580 was £65 (refurb by Sapphire with 12 month warranty - a steal!) and a great upgrade from my R9 380. I also had 8GB of RAM which was often maxed out. I was all set to upgrade to a Ryzen 3600 and bought the new RAM first! I later changed my mind and thought I'd wait til Zen3, hence 16GB of 3600mhz RAM.

I took from all the experimenting that buying the i3 6100 5 years ago was a great move. A brilliant CPU! Not only does it do well with things like SOTTR, it also manages RAM set to 3600mhz.

Present day building with 1650s 4GB vram and 8GB system ram seems kinda crap.

Sure, I agree but what I meant by bad specs was builds that were so horrible they couldn't even run a game. For example, one person above talked about someone who built a good PC but didn't put any CPU cooling, so it crashed on launch. While the stuff you posted is outdated, it isn't necessarily a bad build.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
