No, even if true, a decent 750 watt would still be plenty. It's not like you have a 200+ watt tdp cpu. Such as 3900X, 3950X, ThreadRipper or Intel 10900K
Hell I've offered to pay for it enough times, but until you do, please stop sayi g random bs about how 750watts wouldn't be enough.
You're fine with 750W. But buy the 1500W anyway, it's nice clear badge to everyone that you don't know what you're doing.
Edit: * outside of benchmarking.
Really though, power draw isn't going to get any worse unless NVIDIA has lost their marbles.
Man, this just gets better and better.
goes and makes more popcorn*
Listen right. The wattage is only half the story it's more about the power-rails capacity you should care the most about If you have a 1500W PSU you should look at the rails they are represented by a combined power capacity. Each rail be it
3.3V+
5V+
12V+
Depending on what you are doing the rails are relevant to what you use. High performance GPUs will want a strong 12V+ rail with minor voltage variation. And more Amps available on a rail as long as it can continuously deliver that amperage the more consistent the draw on the system overall.
An example the Corsair AX1500i has a combined watage of 1500W on the 12V+ rail. and max combined power of 180W on the 3.3V and 5V rails. USB operates on the 5V
Prime-TRX40-Pro
30A available for USB. Add up the total amps for the occupation of each USB port.
6x USB 3.2 1,500mA = 9Amps total
4x USB 3.2 1,500mA = 6Amps total
Totals 75Ws of power @5V @ 1.5Amps each 5V+ Rail
for all USB ports to be populated
There are other PSU cables ATX12 (receives inputs of 3.3V+ 12V+ and 5V+)
EPS12 or 12V 4+4 power connector (Delivers exclusively 12V on each pin)
PCIe power is the same deliverying exclusively (12V on each pin)
Then lastly there is the Molex Peripheral power connector (Can power misc things) (12V+ and 5V+) Fans, controllers, RGB lighting and so on.
That should clear up understanding as to why or why not you may need a 1500W PSU. But it's your money doesn't mean it isn't a very bad decision and I won't ridicule you for it.
