Are Logitech Z625 speakers good?
I want the best audio I can get (for casual stuff like gaming and music) for a normal price, that means not paying a 10 times higher price for professional speakers with 100% accurate reference audio that would be used in a studio or something.

Basically, I want crystal clear audio and accurate (but not reference) audio at any volume, as well as awesome bass, all for a normal, fair price and optimal performance straight out of the box.

Now, is Logitech Z625 the best choice for all that?

I've had Logitech mice and keyboards for over 10 years, their quality and reliability is always the best.

at $150usd range you can find a used stereo or 5.1 receiver and set of bookshelf speakers that will sound way better
then find an amplified sub for $100 to finish it off

check craigslist, facebook and local pawn/2nd hand ships

Well, I'm currently using this:

They may seem terrible, but they actually sound surprisingly good, not just for the price, but in general. Anyway, how much better should the Z625 be?

they are "ok", setup one as an HDTV sound bar, plenty of low punch for bass-heads but the mids & highs get a bit muddled.

A more accurate system at the same price, the Vizio SB2821-D6[www.walmart.com] would be a better choice, with just about the same amount of bass punch. Has cool features like dynamic range compression, worth checking out.

That was my primary candidate a few years ago by specs, then I decided to search ahead after looking at the actual specimen in the shop. Then dropped the idea completely hearing it (though it was in suboptimal conditions).

I finally went for thonet and vander ratsel non-BT version, around same price. Not perfect, but suits me fine. And runs rounds around the other sound-wise. There are other options worth looking at if you want to listen music, rather than just have some noise for games.

For Logitech, I'd look at their 500 watts set

Cheaper speakers are pretty garbage.

Otherwise a receiver with speakers or a 5.1 home theater setup is good way to go.
