if its hitting 72c is way too hot
get a better cooler or clean it out and disable any oc
any intel i series has faster cores than fx
and CPU means so little for FPS unless you're obsessing over every single point above 144 FPS
But yeah, I agree, FSB, Memory, and I think northbridge too if memory serves, overclock those and you'll get better performance, providing you get a better cooler/clean the one you have now.
At the very least make sure it doesn't throttle.
My FX8350 easy multi OC 4.4ghz across all cores 40-42c most times with cm212+ csgo Dust II map isn't all that demanding and even my old x4 965 r7 265 managed 120-190fps.
Ps, FX8350 max temp is 61c and the FX8300 is 72c.
just keep the ram near its rated freq and timings
and the ht needs to stay at stock 2000-2400
