GTX 1650 vs RX 580 - grid autosport

Hello all, hope all is well and safe, wondering if anyone can give me their opinion, first of all, i am no big gamer by any means, my xfx7970 recently died, originally bought the GTX1650, which I was happy with, was then suggested a RX 580, as better value for money, so now I am have both to play around with, which is confusing than ever!

I only play grid autosport with my set up, current spec:

i5-4440 3.1 ghz
Cooler master hyper 212 cpu cooler
24gb ddr3 hyper x corsair
crucial 1tb ssd
Corsair 650w psu 80+ gold
Some kind of samsung 60hz monitor

(I know i need to upgrade my monitors at some point...)

RX580 on paper wins hands down, I am not sure why I am getting better experience with the gtx1650 on the grid autosport?

First of all, grid autosport auto graphics determines that the GTX1650 is best with high setting, whereas the RX580 with medium setting.

RX580 - I experience a lot more lags than the GTX1650, overall the GTX1650 is a much smoother experience for me than the RX580.

Done a benchmark in game on grid autosport, both on high setting:

GTX1650 stock clock - average FPS 84 , Max FPS 98
RX580 over clocked - average FPS 75, Max 83

I should add, RX580 struggles with high setting, and again lags a lot causing a rather unpleasant gaming experience.

Can anyone help to explain why? Is RX580 gabbage? or just not performing well with my set up?

And no, its not a bad card, and yes, it should outperform the 1650 in nearly all situations.

There are always chery picked games that will favor one vendor or another no matter what. Often to the extent of an entire product segment. Though they are rare, it is possible thet Grid AutoSport is one that favors NV.

I would suggest trying some benchmarks or other games to amke sure both cards are operating as they should, then look into if there are any known issues with Grid for AMD graphics users.

FWIW if you like racing the Forza and Dirt series like AMD lol.

I don't have Autosport, but do have Grid 2 and ran a benchmark in that. I'm getting a much higher framerate than what you are reporting. Either Autosport is way more demanding or perhaps there is a driver issue going on?
