PC stuttering, is it a cpu problem?
My specs are:
GTX 1660 Super
Ryzen 3 1200 (I know its a bottle neck but i wasnt having stuttering issues before)
8gb Corsair Vengeance 3000mhz

Basically before i used MSI afterburner to attempt to overclock my GPU my PC was running perfectly fine and my CPU was even running at 3.9ghz (base speed 3.1ghz). My pc started freezing and stuttering after overclocking a bit too high so i reverted it all. My desktop works fine and i can use chrome etc perfectly fine but as soon as i get in game (in this case fortnite) my game drops frames so much, even in the pre game lobby. I used to cap at 75fps and get it consistently, now im lucky to stay above 60 fps...

Another thing to note is i just installed a new ssd and fortnite is the only thing on the ssd... I dont know if that can cause any other issues maybe?

googling little bit regarding the situation. Is msi afterburner running when you playing games? some sites/forums suggest to switch that off or update that software. here is also a few sites regarding the msi afterburner where they discussing regarding the stuttering

maybe you can look into it and let us know the outcome

I’ve worked out that the issue only persists in fortnite. Running gmod etc and my gpu gets used in all of them bar fortnite

Then it's an issue with Fortnite in general

ok if its just Fortnite, did you try lowering graphics settings there, or does it not make any difference?

I always play fortnite on the lowest settings apart from 3D resolution as it’s Better for competitive. I’m fairly sure its not an in game settings issue and may be an ssd issue. I started having issues after installing my new ssd.

No fortnite is currently the only thing on the hard drive. Someone else just suggested a program to check if there’s something wrong with the ssd itself. Looking into it now

That's exactly the program I recommended in his other thread.
I think it best I stick to this one.

Delete Fortnite off of the SSD and reinstall it directly onto the drive, don't move it from another drive

See if that helps

If it does, game files may have been corrupted or some ♥♥♥♥ when you moved it

I’m redownloading it back onto the original drive, hopefully it works
