PC stuttering, is it a cpu problem?
My specs are:
GTX 1660 Super
Ryzen 3 1200 (I know its a bottle neck but i wasnt having stuttering issues before)
8gb Corsair Vengeance 3000mhz

Basically before i used MSI afterburner to attempt to overclock my GPU my PC was running perfectly fine and my CPU was even running at 3.9ghz (base speed 3.1ghz). My pc started freezing and stuttering after overclocking a bit too high so i reverted it all. My desktop works fine and i can use chrome etc perfectly fine but as soon as i get in game (in this case fortnite) my game drops frames so much, even in the pre game lobby. I used to cap at 75fps and get it consistently, now im lucky to stay above 60 fps...

Another thing to note is i just installed a new ssd and fortnite is the only thing on the ssd... I dont know if that can cause any other issues maybe?

possible that you maybe, and i do mean maybe you screwed up either your graphics card or cpu with the overclocking. got a friend who always mess around with overclocking, even with msi afterburner and the amount of graphics cards and processors he thrown away, even if the still will work to a degree but with problems. he even put the stuff into other pc's to see if it works
but when im in game my cpu is working 99% and my gpu is at 0.4% utilization and 4% overall for the pc... surely that indicates that it is still powering?
thats why i said maybe. just possible scenario.

No it's not.
MSI afterburner (even better put...nvidia itself) have safe lock parameters that wont allow you to go abow danger zones of voltages to destroy your card.

So no... he did not destoy the video card.
It's not easy to do as you think so.
You coud crash the software/driver... but to damage the actual hardware.
He needs go go way beyond 120 c for that... and to stay there.

We are way pass the 90's.

but like i said, i got a friend who screwed up his graphic card and processor, so i will say it is possible, not easy yes, but still possible. I mean if he can throw away brand spanking new processors like intel i7 or amd razen 7 just because he tried to overclock it, then it possible.

He damaged it with extreme temperatures lock.
Not the actual overvoltaging it.
And even then the CPU will downlock itself from self harm.

So no...
It doesnt work that way.

thats a relief aha, another thing is that my gpu is still being used by my pc, gpu is sitting at 10-14% utilization by the whole pc, its just fortnite that isnt using it...
How did you DDU the driver?
On what version are you right now?

I installed DDU, i downloaded the newest driver from the geforce website, did the clean but not restart on DDU and then installed the driver again. All done in safe mode

And do you mean windows version or DDU?

nvidia control panel works fine?
MSI afterburner reading driver and card info?

Your problem is the lack of gpu utilization.
Im just trying to figure out why exactly...

Did you reseted BIOS as i asked you to do so we coud focus only on the gpu and be 100% certain thats the problem?
Do a hard reset.
CMOS it.

Ive just read up on it and it says one way to do it is to just reset to default in bios and i did that earlier, so i think its done
Still the same problem?
