IPS Glow/Bleed ? What is it i have ? and am i expecting to much ?
So, I have just bought an LG GL850 after allot of arguing with myself on the matter, the screen is out of this world it looks so crisp and colourful.

BUT!! i have an issue there is bleed or glow i dont know the difference in the bottom two corners pretty bad and on the top to the right of centre, when i play SOD 2 or miscreated it looks like crap during the night time phase.

Should i return and i hope i get better ?
Or am i expecting to much and i should just deal with it ?
How much bleed is the usual ''Good standard'' what is the best you can hope for ?

I dont get how it is legal to sell something that in my opinion is 20% broken when it leaves the factory.

If i move my head to the left it goes on the left and the right side gets worse and vice versa if this means anything, Also there is a setting called ''reader'' on my monitor this totally gets rid of it but the whole screen looks washed out on this setting its horrid so you could not play with this setting.

turn down the backlight to about 50% to reduce backlight bleed, then brightness up a touch to counter the dimmer backlighting

I might be wrong but I think it has to do with the low contrast ratio of GL850. Low contrast means the bleed will be more noticeable.

You can look at the cons here

VA panel usually will have much higher contrast ratio but the color won't be as great as IPS, so there are downsides on both so the decision have to be based on preference.

Download the manual for your monitor. It shows brightness as an option for you to adjust.

i know how to adjust brightness, he said turn down the ''backlight'' and then up the brightness to compensate, i have never seen a backlight adjustment on any monitor nor on this one.

Brightness on the monitor is the backlighting.

I think he means turn down brightness on the monitor's OSD and turn up brightness in the graphics control panel or a windows calibration.
