Can i use a 240hz 1080p monitor and a 144hz 1440p monitor connected at the same time both 27''
I Currently have the 240hz 1080p TN monitor and i am about to purchase a 144hz 1440p IPS Monitor, i know they will not match that is the point i will use my 1080 TN for FPS games and my 1440p IPS for other games, im just wondering if/how it works if i connect both to my GPU, and if i can do this does it impact performance in any way, if one is just showing desktop while i game on the other one, alos any recomendations on a 1440p IPS monitor or is there anything better on the horizon i should be aware of before purchase.

Any information is very welcome

Thanks Peeps

Yeah you can use entirely different monitor spec at the same time, the hit on the GPU depends on the GPU itself.

Most decent GPUs shouldn't have more than a few FPS less than with a single monitor.

Yes.

Currently I have
Monitor 1: Asus PG43UQ 43 inch 4k @144hz) [G-Sync Compatitble]
Monitor 2: BenQ XL2411 24" 1080p @60hz (restricted as current GPU has no DVI connection)

I did have
Monitor 1: BenQ XL2730 27" 1440 @144hz or 120hz G-Sync Compatitble
Monitor 2: BenQ XL2411 24" 1080p @144hz (Previous GPU and DVI connection)

I've had no issue with either setup and neither will you. Yes there would be a small performance hit but nothing much. If you use the second, lower resolution, display for web browser, temp monitoring and voice communication and stuff you'd maybe drop 1 maybe 2 fps when gaming.

Yeah, there'll be nearly no issues.
You'll have to tell the game which monitor to use, other than setting it up in windows (making monitors go in the right order, resolution and refresh rate.)
You'll be fine.

There'll barely be a performance hit, if any.
Since a 2D enviroment isn't hard to push.

Thanks!! My current Gpu is Gtx 1080 and i will upgrade when the 30 series drops, so i should be fine i think.

Usually, games should default to whatever display is marked by Windows as Display 1. But not always, I've had issues with Fallout 4 selecting display 2 instead, even if I changed display 2 to be display 1.

Should be in the game settings.

Would be in Game settings if it's possible without fiddling. Aslong as you have your main display set as 1 in Windows Display Settings most games will Default to it anyway.

So i set Display 1 to the monitor i use most often, then if i want to play other screen i change that to display 1 ? or somtimes you can select which monitor in game.

Have your main display 1 set as Display 1. Games will want that screen anyway. IF you want to play a game on the other screen you either need to set it to use screen 2 in game. Provided it has the option 2 or you'd need to find others ways to do it on a per game basis. That's only IF you want to use your non main display/screen 2.

If you can't find a way to manually change the display a game uses then yes you can switch it to be display 1. To me that's a pain in the *** and thankfully I've never had to resort to that method so hopefully you won't either.

Set whichever you're going to use the most (gaming, and/or browsing.)
You don't need to change it from that - games will have a selection between what monitor to use in the settings.

A lot of ASUS monitors made after 2019 have ELMB-Sync, which is ELMB but with framesync tech so you can remove a bit more ghosting without having to disable FreeSync/G-Sync. Just my two cents.

You don't really need ELMB with a good monitor. As there's little to no ghosting anyway.

I would look at LGs 1440p144hz. Nano-IPS or something, I forget the name of the tech it uses.
Supposedly really good.

I just wish VA panels would hurry up and get fast response times. Since ~10+ms response time isn't very good at 144+hz.
