100 degree cpu on cod warzone
Whenever I play warzone, my cpu temp goes from 60 to 100 and I don't know how to low it down. My computer is clean inside and the case doesn't feel hot at all.

I have an i3-8100

You have to monitor it, is it increasing rpm as the temp rises? Do you have proper case airflow? Maybe the cooler is not properly seated and you have to take it off, re-paste the cpu and then install the cooler.

Sounds like it's just wrong.
As the cpu would thermal throttle by then. 60 before launching games doesn't even sound right, as temps just at the OS desktop level without anything stressful running should be something more like 30-45*C

is the cooler installed correctly?

is the cpu throttling?

a buddy installed his cooler wrong and left about a 1/8in gap between the cpu and cooler, it was throttling to 400-800mhz

double check the cooler install and make sure its tight to the cpu ihs

If it goes above 40-50*C while sitting in the bios, that should throw up a red flag that the cooler isn't installed correctly, making proper contact with cpu.

I gave my sister a Hyper212 EVO I had extra, new in the box to install on her amd fx cpu years ago and she managed to install the other set of stand offs for the cooler, meant only for lga-2011 socket, which are slightly longer due to the design of the 2011 socket. Because of this, just barely touching the cooler with your hand after all was installed, allowed the cooler to slide across the cpu surface on the paste. Once the stand offs were changed out, it was as it should be, rock solid and doesn't move. The mounting screws have a rock bottom to hit as to tell the user when to stop turning them.

Don't worry, I checked up on my cpu cooler and it was loose... for some reason.

So that fix the temps issue then?

What about just chillin' at the desktop? 70c in game is a lot more reasonable.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 50c at your desktop is still pretty damn hot. What kind of stuff are you running? Folding@Home, downloads, steam updates, windows updates, anything like that? Can you check in task manager what is using up CPU resources and what % it is using?

Could also be attributed to the fact the cooler wasn't on tight enough and he may not have replaced the paste, so there's likely air bubbles or something. Doesn't help that it's likely the Intel stock cooler as well, and that's actually quite normal for their stock cooler these days, as their design gets cheaper and cheaper every generation at this point.

Last time I check, he is at gaming, not idle. So 70 C during gaming is normal. It can mean one thing, CPU cooler is smaller, thermal paste have air, or it is not reading correct. There are many main reasons for that.

He was talking about his temperature at idle... The first 6 words are: "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, 50C at your desktop..."
