GPU for Non-Gaming 1440p Ultrawide Usage
If one isn't gaming on an 1440p ultrawide, do they still require gaming GPUs or they can just use a 1030 GT for instance?

You could use something really weak, but I wouldn't recommend it. I'd say look for a decent used GPU that's in your budget, even something from generations ago like a 750 Ti would be fine.

Any modern GPU or even integrated graphics will do a great job at displaying the desktop at high resolutions.

By using such examples, they won't ruin resolution or image quality and such?

They really should be fine for watching videos and basic use, that's what they're designed for. If it's something REALLY old, like integrated graphics from 10+ years ago then maybe it might have trouble with displaying high quality videos. But even older gaming GPUs shouldn't have issues playing videos whatsoever, or at least I'd hope so.

Alright. Appreciate the help!

Nope. Anything modern will run this screen fine. Note the *modern*, an older GT 710 for example will be limited to 30-50Hz at 3440x1440 due to it's HDMI 1.4b port.

A GT 1030 with it's HDMI 2.0 and Displayport 1.4 port can run any high-resolution screen you throw at it.

The desktop is really not a demanding thing to run and it does not require a powerful GPU, you do require a card with modern ports which can output these resolutions at a decent frequency. And you should check what ports the screen itself has, it will likely have a Displayport.

Right, I forgot to take the Displayport into account because it grants higher refresh rates. And luckily enough, I do have GT 1030.

Thanks again!

As long as it is on par with Intel UHD 610/630 then it's fine. There is no must to have a gpu from amd or nvidia for this, even the modern Intel gpus can handle up to 5K res just fine and smoothly.

You generally don't want to use the 100+ hz refresh just for OS Desktop stuff anyways or it will make the gpu run at the higher 3d clocks non-stop

even the intel hd can run upto 3x 4k displays
but for anything that needs hardware acceleration, the 1030/740/ryzen apu will do alot better

Some integrated graphics can be good for non-gaming, such as movie and document. There is a risk, not all integrated graphics is good for movie that require a highest bitrate for video and audio. To play a HDCP-protected, you will need monitor and motherboard that support HDCP. To play DVD it is cheap to get a software with limited, but to play Blu ray it is expensive to get a software.
