Is it bad having an open case?
I have a bad case so the airflow is just awful and if i remove the side panel there is a huge diference.
Besides more dust ( no problem i clean my pc often) are there any other negatives?

Other than dust, not really.
You could argue it would be easier to damage (via liquids or knocking it), but that's kinda meh, since it's unlikey to happen anyway.

What case do you have?

All that changes is you get more dust exposure, but dust can be easily blown out.

You could buy dust filter material and use it instead of a side panel, this could stop dust and other particles, hairs food getting in and also could stop large amounts of liquid.

Get more fans.

Add fans or maybe try to see if your current fans can be run better (suck instead of pull?, moved to another slot?). It's nice to have airflow over components.

Your case must have really bad air flow or design if removing the side panel helps alot.

noise, dust, hazard to drop something in -- if you have those handled it's fine

Its a really bad case for airflow..cant fit more than 3 case fans in and also no room for any cable management...will just have it open until I decide to buy a new case

Buy a new case, simple.
Buy one with good airflow and outfit every space with a good fan. You can do that for around $50
Keep it open but dont put your foot in by accident

If the airflow is that bad buy a cheap box fan for the time being and have it blow towards the case side that is open with side panel removed. This can hold you over as you can get like a 20 inch box/room fan for less then $20 at places such as Walmart, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree... just be mindful of pets and that dust will build up more often, so be prepared to clean the fan and the PC more often over time. Don't have any drinks near by.

No, it's fine. If it gets dusty, just clean it. There are really expensive cases that are just a piece of metal on one side and a sheet of glass on the other with no enclosure to speak of.

Either re-organize cables to allow a better airflow, or buy a better case. Leaving a case opened is really a bad idea. You will gain more dust and can damage components. I have a very good case (Thermaltake) which prevents from dust getting into. I got bad dust outside on my case, but nothing inside. It is about 100 dollars.

It's gonna hurt it, how so?

I've run whole PCs for years where it just sat on the motherboard box, on top a table. Lol...

For half my life I've run PCs with the side panel off, no dust filters, and just in the open.
Litterally no problems here either.

Care to explain what damage would happen? Lmao
