CPU and Motherboard to go with GTX 750 Ti
I would like to upgrade my MOTHERBOARD and CPU while keeping the other components.
(It's hard to set price ranges because of my country and lack of modern components knowledge)

What are some options that match the GTX 750 Ti's level and others that exceed it?

DDR4 sticks are very expensive here, are they actually worth it?
Maybe a MOBO that has both DDR3 and DDR4?

x CPU: Core 2 Quad Q8400 @ 2.66 Ghz...
x MOBO: G41-M3

- Keep these -
PSU: Corsair CX430
RAM: 2x 4GB DDR3 @ 800MHz
GPU: GTX 750 Ti 2GB VRAM
HDD: Seagate ST500DM002 500GB
Monitor: 15'' 1366x768
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64

1. That platform is way out of date; the CPU, motherboard, and RAM all need to be replaced at the very least.

2. The Q8400 is a socket LGA775 CPU, and only uses DDR2 RAM, not DDR3 or DDR4, those came long after the Q8400 released.

3. An good upgrade would be at least a Ryzen 5 1600 (AF) or 2600 on a B450 motherboard with 16GB 3000~3200 MHz DDR4 RAM, but waiting for B550 motherboards and Ryzen 4000 would be ideal because those will be out by the end of the year anyway.

an office pc with any i5/i7 would be better than the old c2q

a ssd alone will make the pc feel so much faster

I don't think DDR4 sticks are worth it for that kind of build - and I would absolutely not recommend a MOBO with both. Keep to one or the other.

Obviously the DDR4 and newer processors are better, but I would suggest looking for a motherboard with the LGA1150 socket, and try to pair it with a i7-4790K. This should work with the old components you have.
It is outdated, so you might be able to grab it for cheap, and it is hugely faster than your Core 2 Quad Q8400. Any i5 or i7 for the LGA1150 would be a big upgrade for you, but the 4790K is the best of the bunch.

I have a q9550 and 750ti. The 750ti is weaker than the q9550, so as the q8400 and q9550 are almost identical I'd just be trying to overclock the cpu slightly. There are videos on youtube.

Although I'm able to play Deus Ex Mankind Divided (30FPS), DMC5 (30FPS) and even DOOM Eternal with it (30FPS), it is not weaker. I have never even the 750 Ti get to 50% usage, while the CPU is at it's maximum and giving me stutters on CPU bound scenarios.

koino:
Why would a hybrid RAM MOBO be bad, if it has 2 slots for each (I know it's not at the same time) and allows the RAM to be "upgraded" to DDR4 later on?

Escorve:
They are 2 sticks of 4GB DDR3 1333 running at 800MHz.

Edit: Researching...

To be able to use DDR4 ram you need a newer(=more expensive) processor. And a hybrid RAM board would be more expensive as well. I just don't think it is worth the extra money. If you want DDR4 and a newer processor it is probably better to buy both at once rather than trying some kind of later upgrade.

Been researching all this time and found these to be the most cost beneficial ones in my country.
How is it?

MOBO: GA-AB350M-DS3H V2 (rev. 1.1)
CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 AF

This RAM:
AD4U2666J4G19-S Adata 4GB DDR4 U-DIMM 2666 - R$135,00

or

This RAM?:
CMK4GX4M1A2400C16 Corsair Vengeance LPX 4GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) - R$ 170,00

Avoid B350, go for B450 or B550 instead.

Avoid ADATA RAM in general, and you need a lot more than 4GB in 2020. 8GB is the dead minimum, 16GB is ideal.

If you have a good internet connection and a very high/unlimited data cap playing on Geforce Now might work. Maybe 4-15 gb per hour? The free version also has a 1 hour time limit per session. You have to log back in every hour. No daily limit. Be careful about internet data usage and your data cap or you could end up with a large internet overage bill.

There's also Stadia but it might not work well? Amazon, Microsoft (project x cloud?) and Steam might have gaming things in the next year or two?

I used a 760 sc 2gb and an i7-3770k set up. The i7-3770k was more than enough for the 760 so a bit lower power cpu would work. Currently have the 760 sc in with an e8500 core 2 duo and the gpu maxs out at about 34C due to how weak the cpu is running at 100%.

Win 10 is kind of free. You never have to activate it but you get a light water mark on the bottom right hand corner of the screen that tells you to activate windows. There's also different versions of free win 10 with different limitations.
