It's something you'll have to put up with, because most of the cards bought will have coil whine. There is no true fix for it, only occasional fixes like limiting FPS.

Should I exchange it for a better one? Should I buy a new psu? Do you have a coil whine too on your end?

Coil whine is pretty much unavoidable, all you can really do is pray you don't end up with a GPU with it.

My AORUS 5700XT experiences it, and so did my 2080 Gaming OC. It happens regardless of brand, quality, etc.

Coil whine on a gpu has zero to do with your PSU.

Just return it and get a different model if unhappy.

Such as evga 3 fan 2080 super varient

I disagree, I have never had anything with coil whine unless it has been so quiet i could not hear it therefore did not know, If I did I would assume faulty and return it.

You generally can't rma it for coil whine. But you could return through retailer if within their return policy

Coil whine isn't classified as a fault under most product warranties because it's not an actual problem, just something that's annoying that many components end up with. It's never a guarantee, and you'll know what it is when you hear it.

You can return it, but you usually can't RMA for coil whine.

You could try a few um google things...just ramping up the GPU all night......Some people swear by it.... Another option is replacing PSU (I don't get it), and others tried OC GPU and it goes away, can insulate PC better and just hide the noise... Never had an issue with it so best of luck:claptrap:

So your gpu has some degree of coil whine too? My guess is that you just learned to live with it? Me personally I really mind the buzzing sound considering I paid an expensive amount for a high end premium gpu just to end up with this issue. It’s really getting into me although I’ve been thinking of letting it go and just go yolo with my current gpu

It's entirely up to you whether or not you find it worthwhile to either suck it up because you like the model specifically or return it and get a different model. Basically half of the GPUs in production end up with the issue, and anyone who says, "Well I've had [this many] GPUs and none of them have had it," is one of the luckiest buyers, because it's very common.

I do really like my current model which is the asus rog strix. On my personal experience I’ve had evga 2060 super with coil whine, asus rog strix 2070 super with coil whine and now another asus rog strix 2080 super with coil whine. I once tried the 2070 super on my friends system and the coil whine still persists. Brought the 2070 super to the store I got it from and they agreed to replace it with my current 2080 super in my hopes of getting one without a coil whine. Now I’m stuck with this gpu but I’ve been talking to the store manager and they wont really accept an exchange unless they test the gpu and all that kind of stuff which is wack

Why not just ignore it?

Pretty much. If you're not doing anything to stress the gpu or push high fps, it should never be having that issue. When running something like games that would have the gpu then be producing the coil whine, crank up your speakers or wear heaphones, problem over-come. Not solved, but work-arounds like I said is the only way unless you just return it. But if going to return a gpu to one place, don't get the same gpu model from the same place. Buy same model from a different place to ensure a different batch, or buy an entirely different model. Such as a different brand of 2080-S

Correct me if i am wrong but my understanding of coil whine is that its caused by vibration? In extreme cases when nothing els can be done i wonder, is it possible to cushion the vibration? maybe if you can id the actual thing thats doing it and place a drop from a hot glue gun perhaps?

Any of you knowledgeable guys want to chime in here?

Vibration in the frequency of components, they should be outside of human audible range in the ultrasound range but sometimes it can fall to the hearing range.
