Is my GTX 1080 card a fake?
I've now heard a few times that the 1080 does not have 4GB of memory. I wasn't really worried about it before, but it's gotten to the point that I can't ignore it anymore. Is my card a ♥♥♥♥ off?
Here is exactly how it is listed in Speccy; 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (Gigabyte)

Any 1080 should be 8GB. You either have a dud or a fake.
Try GPU-z
GPU-z says that it the memory size is infact 8192MB. So why would Speccy say 4095MB???
It is not uncommon for programs of this nature to read incorrect values.

Use another program, check your control panel, or dxdiag.

Go on the card's forum and ask others (nicely) to run the same test using Speccy
GPU-Z is definitely more trustworthy. I don't think Speccy updates its database as often so the details can be wrong for the newer harware.
Another simple way to test; what kind of FPS are you getting and what resolution are you playing at? A true-blooded GTX1080 should get extremely high framerates at 1080 or 1440p resolutions and ultra settings.

This

As for why speccy is reading 4GB, it probably hasnt been updated to detect VRAM above 4GB.
Thats really all it is.
it is a bug in the new Nvidia drivers remove your current one and install a older version or wait for a fix
Program error obviously. I had a program for temps which showed that my CPU is on 93 celsius, yet in BIOS it was 36.

Trust your PC rather. "dxdiag" will show the exact ammount correctly
